The small Carytown area has plenty of unique restaurants, eclectic shops and events all year 'round. The Food & Wine Festival is always well-attended and draws a good number of Virginia wine makers, and has seating and awnings out of the sun to take a break. The long-running Watermelon Festival offers plenty for all ages, and Chalk Up the Town has both accomplished artists and pre-school Rembrandts creating works of art. Almost every store, restaurant and shop is locally owned, and the merchants take a lot pride in the service and goods they offer. Several free parking garages are available, as the street parking is usually full and difficult to use on the narrow street. a It's a top choice for a family outing, fun shopping or a relaxed evening out with friends.

We spend 30 minutes strolling around Carytown. The architecture was quite interesting but I wouldn't go out of my way just to visit the area.

A nice little shopping area with a variety of shops. Visited the Christmas Decorations shop and enjoyed two cupcakes at the Carytown Cupcakes

I love Carytown, I love to shop there, from upscale shopping to thrift shopping. It is all good. the restaurants can be French, like CanCan, or family fun, like Galaxy Diner. There are weekend street vendors and exhibits from arts & crafts to jewelry. Don't miss this street when you are in Richmond, Va.Go to the end of Cary St. and see the painted buildings by local artists.
