The Jefferson is unique and beautiful. The hotel has beautiful furnishings and lots of history, pictures of celebrity visits, and very interesting hotel. The main stairway is super cool. We saw a wedding with the bride and groom coming down the wide stairway. Christmas is awesome with the tree lighting, music, cider.

The stunning lobby is grand, the service is gracious, the rooms are beautiful and we will revisit this hotel. Located in downtown Richmond, our plans included a one night stay at The Jefferson and we wish we had more time. We ordered room service and also dined at the hotel restaurant. Both experiences were delightful adding another layer of good service and prompting my review.

Room Tip: Because we made our reservations late the room choices were limited and we reserved a suite. When we...

Built in the late part of the 19th Century. Walk in the footsteps of Charlie Chaplin, Elvis and at least a dozen Presidents. The Jefferson is old Virginia and an atmosphere of history. Although not in a great neighborhood, it's close to VCU and a cab ride from the safe action of Shockoe Slip. The rooms are like the hotel, a lot of ambiance, albeit, in some cases, not a lot of space. I stayed in a very roomy 2 room suite. The amenities were great. They provide a rob, whirlpool and roomy shower.
The staff was very nice and management stand behind their product. I had an issue in a prior stay that prompted the manager,Gary, to give an incentive for this stay.
The Jefferson is also Pet friendly. Be prepared to pay for this experience. A minimal room will run about $250/nt. The suite I stayed would normally run $500/nt.
The conference staff are very good and the food is excellent. I didn't dine in the restaurant on site, but it has a great reputation.

Room Tip: Stay in a suite. The standard room is small,.as was the standard in the 19th century

Great place to stay in Richmond. Not every grand old hotel maintains its charm but The Jefferson has been very well taken care of. The public spaces are really impressive, and the guest rooms are nicely and simply appointed. We will certainly stay on our next visit, too.

We spent the weekend at this elegant hotel for a family wedding. It was quite evident why The Jefferson earned its "Luxury" designation. No detail of welcoming or comfort was missed. The architecture is breathtaking. When we arrived at checkout, High Tea was being served. The fine china settings, inviting pastry tower, and exquisite music played skillfully on a harp left a magical first impression! The staff was first-rate; so warm and welcoming. The room could not have been more comfortable. The lovely touches...such as returning in the evening with the beds turned down, lush robes ready, and soft, relaxing music playing....were but one of the many elegant, inviting gestures to make guests feel pampered. The pool was the absolute perfect temperature. Great amenities!

Room Tip: The suites were absolutely lovely! Very continental .... EVERYTHING designed for comfort within the...

My daughter and I stayed at this hotel in mid-August. We checked in in the afternoon and were greeted warmly, our room ready and waiting. Staff was engaging, welcoming and professional. The lobby is very grand, and the furnishings lovely ~ this is Old Southern Grandeur at it's best. Our room was spacious, very quiet, the beds comfy, lovely crisp linens. The only negative was that the room had an odor of your great-grandmother's parlor ~ they had apparently sprayed some kind of scent or air freshener which was not very pleasant. Our rate included a full breakfast in the morning, which was delicious, service impeccable. The price was very reasonable for the experience of staying at the Grand Dame of Richmond. I would never stay anywhere else when visiting my granddaughter at school. Highly recommend. Oh ~ be sure to visit the gift shop and also ask about the alligators!
