Days Inn Richmond/South
Ranked #64 of 82 Hotels in Richmond

My girlfriend and I had to stay in the Richmond area for two nights during a job interview. This Days Inn we stayed at was sleazy and subppar. Our room stank of cigarette smoke although it was supposedly a non-smoking room. The carpet looked as if it hadn't been vacuumed in months, the shower curtain had mold spots on it, and the bedsheets were stained in some areas. Definitely NOT worth the $60 we were charged a night for a king bed. It would be reasonable if it were $40 but is certainly overpriced for the quality offered, which is about none. At night it seemed as though some shady events took place. In one such instance a very scantily clad woman was roaming the hallways late at night.
I absolutely DO NOT recommend staying at this hotel and WILL NOT stay here again should I need to return to Richmond.

I found my room to be clean and properly cleaned for the 4 days I stayed, but the wireless did not work in my room and repeated complaints got nowhere. rather than go thru the hassle of changing rooms, I just took my laptop to the lobby and used it there.

The night clerk could care less about any requests,- too busy watching TV.

No business area with a fax machine or printer to use, and no exercise room.

Did have a decent breakfast between 6am and 9 am which shuts down at 9:01 promptly.

All in all clean, spare, and pretty cheap.

Stayed at this hotel for a "weekend/romantic getaway" because of the jacuzzi suites.

The management/staff definitely do not pretend to speak English.

The room was shabby and I felt like I was in a really badly rated pornography flick. I felt like I should have rented it by the hour rather than by the day. Being rather OCD, I had brought some antibacterial cleaner to clean the jacuzzi with prior to putting my behind in it, and glad I did because I can't believe the amount of nastiness that was still in there.

The bed was comfortable, I didn't have problems with "bed bugs", nor any bugs for that matter. The power did go out one night during a rather severe thunderstorm, but was restored within 30 minutes.

It is rather "shady" in that area, and there are "long-term" residents in the hotel, but we had no problem during our weekend stay.

We didn't try out the breakfast buffett, nor did we attempt to get in the pool due to the amount of children that were there this particular weekend..

It wasn't a terrible stay, but it could have been better for the money we paid.

When we got there, not only did the property look gross, but suspiciously there were mattresses piled up by the dumpsters outside.

We had INTENDED to book at the Days Inn (Chesterfield), which is 5 miles down road (on Hugoenot Rd.) and which is actually pretty new and very nice.

But we made a mistake and had accidentally booked at this one (6910 Midlothian Pkwy). It is in a pretty awful area of Richmond.

After we had been in bed a couple hours already, I looked down and saw a bug...then another....and we lifted the sheets and the bed was infested. Black flat bugs that looked like ticks only a lot bigger. I have bites.

We did get our money back...but the management was not at all apologetic and wouldn't refund our money until they sent someone up there to look at the bugs, so we wasted about 15 minutes sitting in the (also gross) lobby. And the management does not speak English well, either.

Do not stay here. Go down the road to the Days Inn on Hugoenot Rd., which is very pleasant and next to a nice shopping mall in a decent area.

I only stayed here because I was travelling with my dog and they allow pets. Other things they allow: filthy, uncleaned rooms, smoking in the supposedly 'non-smoking' rooms, long-term transients, crime in the parking lot (and who knows where else), disgusting bathrooms you'd be afraid to touch with gloves on, and so on. The place is run by non-English-speaking people who couldn't care less about any of this. Go further out Midlothian Tpke, it gets better. This place should be shut down.

Don't be fooled by the OUTSIDE appearance.
My room was furnished with water-damaged furniture.
They claimed on-line it’s recently renovated. The only thing that looked new was maybe the carpeting…I repeat MAYBE.
None of the staff at the Motel knew of any historic sites in their hometown, Richmond VA. There were drug dealers near by. Only sit-in restaurant near this location would be Red Lobster (which was okay to my surprise). Other than that, you are stuck with McDonalds drive in after hours.

This has been a total disaster for me!

--> lost Hotels[-] online reservation
--> rust/metal flakes in bathroom sink water *mmmm tasty
--> poorly secured shower curtain/rod, which ripped from the wall
--> questionable neighborhood
--> unprofessional staff

When you first enter the lobby you think this might not be so bad. Wait until you get to your room. *That is if the armed security guard and sketchy area has not already started the wheels a turnin'. Opening the door it was nice to see black out curtains, especially since my room was on the first floor. Inspection of the bathroom showed it was so so clean; there was a fair amount of black mildew around the edges of the shower. The shower curtain rod was not your straight average rod, it bent away from the shower so that when showering you don’t get attacked by the shower curtain. This proved to be a huge issue, as after the first shower we had no shower curtain. The floor of the tub was very slick and when reaching for a towel I slipped. I instinctively reached for the shower curtain to steady myself and was able to do this without much pressure. I am a very well accomplish goalie who has played at the state level. As agile as I might be it didn’t help. The rod ripped from the wall, spilling tile everywhere. I looked to see how that could have happened and notice that it was not anchored well. It was not attached to a stud and the plastic wall anchor they attempted to use was not used properly at all. Before bed I decided I wanted some water, yeah that didn’t happen. There was rust/metal flakes in the water, wish I would have realize that before I had started to drink it. All in all it was not such a great visit. Not to mention they had lost my Hotels[-] reservation.
