“Very nice and new”
Reviewed 22 October 2009

Nice new Westin on the western outskirts of Richmond - about 10 minutes drive to downdown and also about 10 minutes drive to the large Short Pump Mall. The lobby is airy and pleasant, there is a restaurant and bar on site as well as a decent gym and a quite small indoor pool. There is also a business center off the lobby with three or four pc's which are free to use for hotel guests. Rooms are large, decorated in the new Westin style with beige and muted tones and a large flat screen HD TV. This is very much a conference hotel and when we stayed over a weekend there were three wedding receptions going on at the same time on Saturday evening. There is free self parking immediately outside the hotel so valet parking is not necessary.

The new Westin in Richmond is an absolutely terrific hotel. Great decor; bright, clean rooms; exceptional service; terrific food - what more could you want. Only slight disadvantage is that it is not located right in the middle of the city - but I had a meeting outside of town and it met my needs perfectly. Keep up the great work!

I stayed at the Westin Richmond soon after it had opened up which breathed a sigh of relief to all the SPG travelers headed to Richmond. This hotel is basically across the street from the an existing regular Sheraton which was really starting to get run down. The hotel is everything you expect from one of Starwood’s flagship brands. Being a brand new hotel, the lobby is clean and spacious, with the signature scent waifing gently through the air. The rooms are modern and impeccably clean. While the location could be more central to Richmond attractions, it’s close enough to major roads for it to not be too big an issue.

I must say I've stayed at a lot of hotels, but very few come close to this Westin. The staff was awesome. Special thanks to the front desk, especially Amanda and Quantina. They were so helpful and definitely wanted to insure we had a good time. Every recommendation they gave us was perfect. We celebrated my husband's birthday and were greeted with a birthday card signed by all the employees: NICE TOUCH!!!
The rooms were very spacious and modern. The bedroom and bathroom were top notch. A special touch was having a 1bedroom with 2 flat screen TVs.
The one thing we really liked about this hotel was the spa-like atmosphere. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted with the aroma of white tea. It really make us feel special. We will definitely go back to this Westin.

P.S. Housekeeping could be a little more conscious with their duties. It wasn't dirty, but they just neglected a few things.

Just like all Westin's, this one was a great stay. Service was supberb. This hotel accepts small dogs and we kept hearing a small dog barking, really whimpering and called down to report it. We got dressed and left and it was still barking, so we stopped by the desk and mentioned it again. They said they would again check all the rooms with dogs. When we got back to ur room later that night, there was both a voice mail and a note from staff explaining what they had done in trying to resolve the issue. Bottom line the dog was left alone which was against the rules. never heard the dog again at night or in the am.

Room was typical Westin, nice size, and as always very comfortable. We were upgraded to the 7th floor which is the Coincerege floor so there were snacks available thruought the day, light hor d'oeuvres with a cash bar from 5-7 and continental breakfast from 6 am - 9 am. Would have ben nice on a Sunday to have the continental breakfast to go unilt 10 am.

Location seemed strange--maybe its for businesses in the area -- we had a car and Richmond is so small and no traffic over the weekend, so it wasn't a problem. Lots of free parking.

Check their rates close in before you leave, we got a $95 rate.

We stayed for 3 nights and had a great stay. The hotel was spotless, the staff was incredibly responsive, and the rooms were perfect!

As for the rooms they were great! The Heavenly Bed and Bathroom's name speak for themselves. Another great aspect is when you close the shades it gets perfectly dark, even the door had a tight fit so light didn't shoot in under it.

Another interesting in room item is they have vga, hdmi and video inputs right on the desk connected to the flat panel. So you could hook your laptop in directly and watch movies, etc.

As you can tell I was impressed by the Hotel all around!
