the location is great..pool is fantastic for downtown hotel..staff could not be more friendly..found the breakfast "carry out" for the restaurant on last day...this is a bargain..room was above standard but without adequate bathroom ventilation...even though Omni Loyalty program member..the view was one of rooftops but was told it was a river view..did see other views from other rooms which were fine...very clean .both room , hall. and public areas....was stuck in the elevator but rescue was quick.....told manger would be in contact but did not occur...

however having been a guest in hotels for much of my life..I would definitely recommend this property....it is clean..quiet..good location .. and not overpriced

This hotel is located in the Financial district which is perfect for business travelers but rather far from Carytown...about a 20 minute drive. That being said, the hotel operates a free shuttle which will take you anywhere within a five mile radius for free. Apart from some bars and restaurants (conveniently located very near to the Omni) the financial district is understandably quieter on nights and weekends than other other parts of the city. The staff were all very courteous and professional and the room was clean, functional and nicely appointed. The hotel is built on the corner of 12th and Cary street so on one side, all of the rooms face the freeway and on the other side...they have a lovely view of the capitol. Definitely ask for that side if you can. Hotel also has a deal with the YMCA located in the adjacent office building that it's guests can work out there for free....definitely go, the facility is awesome...very modern gym with a lot of top quality machines. Overall, if this had been closer to Carytown, it would have been perfect but if you're in Richmond for other purposes, this is definitely a good option.

Having an almost 11yo daughter, my hotel choice is heavily weighted on whether or not the hotel has a pool. The Omni Richmond has a lovely indoor pool with a sundeck (closed because it was March) and we had it to ourselves on an early Saturday morning. We were in town to see Wicked! (at the Landmark Theater) and checked into the hotel late Friday night after the show. The front desk was efficient, and our room with 2 double beds was stylishly comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant after our morning swim before heading to the Virginia Science Museum (and then home). The only thing that bugged me (just a little) was the attitude of the valet parking attendants, both when we arrived and left, but not enough to really complain about! My fairly well traveled daughter is ready to return to Richmond and stay again at the Omni.

Loved this hotel. It was right downtown Richmond. The staff was very friendly and efficient. The room has everything you'd expect and it was fairly comfortable.

Ate 2 nights at the restaurant - lackluster food at expensive hotel price. Very good service and friendly staff (even when I sent back my pasta the 2nd night), but if I would have had any energy I would have gone somewhere else.

Overall great stay, though.

NOTE: Parking is $21.00 per night (as of March 4th 2010) and is hard to find. I drove around the building twice before I went down in the parking grarage- it's named for the building the hotel is connected to and is not clearly labeled for the Omni

Although we only spent one night, it was a very pleasant stay. The room was well appointed and in good taste, and the bathroom was actually roomy. Although we did not eat in the restaurant, the catered dinner and breakfast were acceptable (high praise for a hotel) and the coffee was good! All staff members were courteous and helpful. Finally, the location in downtown Richmond is wonderful, with lots of resaturants nearby. All together a lovely place to stay.

I stayed at the Omni for two nights for a wedding and was very impressed overall. The most salient aspect of the Omni is that the employees provide impeccable customer service, from the valets to the receptionists, to the maids. I especially appreciated the front desk's assistance with directions. Both the public areas and rooms of the hotel were classy and well decorated. My one complaint was that wireless is not free, which is rather silly considering that even the Hampton Inn offers it without charge. Also, while this did not detract from my stay, I was surprised that the televisions were not flatscreens. Additionally, there are no vending machines in the hallways, which means that if you want a bottle of water or a soft drink, you are going to have to pay an arm and a leg to have room service provide you one.

This is what a business hotel should offer--stylish rooms with lots of space to move and around and work; quiet halls and efficient staff; free wifi to Select members, along with free room service juice and hot coffee; complementary access to a full size gym within the building, complementary pressing of clothes...and even a full size Starbucks in the lobby.
WOW. Other hotel reward programs should take note.

The location is good for downtown business and also for close access to good restaurants just steps away.

Reservations, check in, check out and valet parking all very efficient.
