I graduated from school in Richmond and stayed at The Berkeley on a return trip with my boyfriend. The weekend was meant to be a "surprise getaway" and that's exactly what it was! The hotel was amazing and even though the weekend was mostly planned outdoors, we found reasons to go back to the hotel to rest often! The hotel itself was gorgeous, the rooms were incredibly comfortable (there were fresh made chocolates sitting on our pillows every night and there was classical music playing in our room after every turn down service), and the staff were so courteous. Also, if you like a dark bedroom, there are black out curtains in the rooms and virtually NO light made it in to wake us! The only real downside is that there isn't a whole lot of parking, but that's not so much the fault of the hotel as it is the design of downtown Richmond. The valet parking is only $15 and it's good for 24 hours, though, which is what we did.

Overall, we were both extremely happy with our trip and the hotel is mostly what I brag about from the trip!

My colleagues and I recently stayed at the Berkley and had an excellent experience. We normally stay at the Jefferson but decided to switch at the recommendation of a contact in Richmond. The property was located in an ideal location. The staff was extremely friendly and the rooms were well appointed and comfortable. The beds were extremely comfortable (a topic at breakfast). Overall the property was really attractive and we all agreed that we would stay there on our next trip back to Richmond.

If you want the best location in Richmond for business or leisure travel, this is it. This boutique hotel is located on historic Cary Street, just steps away from the best bars, restaurants and shopping in Richmond. The government complex, health care buildings, and financial district are all within walking distance as well. The staff is very friendly - they will gladly give you recommendations for the best local restaurants. The rooms are spacious - we would suggest a terrace room on the upper three floors. If you do have a car, valet it at the hotel and forget about it - you won't need it during your stay. Great hotel in a fantastic location for a very affordable price.

After arriving at the Berkeley Hotel in Richmond, Virgina I was offered valet service in front of the hotel as I removed luggage from my vehicle. At check out the next morning, I was informed that my vehicle had been damaged by the valet. Imagine my surprise when the general manager Denny Pierce told me that the hotel would not pay for the over $300 in damages because there was a disclaimer sign INSIDE the hotel where it is completely unvisible to arriving guests!

Whenever my husband and I travel to Richmond, this is our hotel of choice. The service is excellent, the staff is personable, and the rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated. This small hotel offers everything the big boys do, but they are so much better at it. Not having a ton of rooms stacked 10+ stories high like other hotels, the uniqueness and warmth you feel at The Berkeley as soon as you walk into the lobby is genuine. How many hotels can you walk out onto your own private balcony and enjoy coffee first thing in the morning or late at night? While we've not eaten dinner there, we have had breakfast and it was wonderful. The dining area is small but that adds to the charm. For a few dollars more than the OMNI which is right across the street, it is totally worth it.

From the moment you arrive in Richmond until your departure, the staff at the Berkeley act as though they sincerely enjoy your presence in the hotel and go out of their way to make sure you feel welcomed.

The hotel is conveniently located in the river district known as Shockoe Slip and within walking distance is the heart of the business district, the General Assembly and all the points of interest you would want to see in downtown Richmond.

My husband booked a room for us on our wedding night at the Berkeley. I was in heaven! Walking in is like taking a step back in time. First of all it has a great location, right in Shockoe Slip. There is history all around you. The service was phenomenal. No one complained when we wanted to bring all of our gifts up to our room and open them right then! When you walk into your room classical music is playing. We got a fantastic room with a huge balcony/patio overlooking the city of Richmond. Put simply it was magical!
