For what it is - a historic boutique hotel - I give this 5 stars. It does not have some of the modern features that are standard at boring chain properties (business centre, workout room - or at least not that I saw), but it oozes character: the courtyard is a great place to sit and chat with companions and is evocative of New Orleans; the high ceilings, comfortable chairs, and parlor areas have a very southern, antebellum feel. There are fireplaces all around (mostly nonfunctional, but full of character nonetheless). The unique layout offers a lot of privacy. The rooms (and some bathrooms) are quite large and include a lot of storage (spacious closet and large armoire); the beds are comfortable, and everything is clean. There is wear - it's an old building, so there are obvious layers of paint and some moisture spots on the ceilings, but it is in a charming way, not a shabby way. Valet parking is reasonable ($12/day with in/out privileges) and a pretty standard breakfast is complimentary. There is a shuttle service that can take you almost anywhere you need to go. The hotel is also within walking distance to a lot of attractions as well. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The prices are reasonable - comparable or slightly less than others in the area, and for better accommodations than most, so I consider it a very good value.
A very welcoming and homey experience. Not the place I would pick for business travel, but a great place to spend time with family and friends and enjoy the property itself.
