“The Camping Party”
Reviewed 16 March 2009

To whom it may concern,

The Camping Party is more than happy to leave our comments on this site about the Historic Mankin Mansion. The Camping Party is Rob and Tammy Dungee. We are Event Planners and Caterers. Last year we needed a quiet place to have a week end meeting with couple we now hire as support on some of our events. We booked the Farmers Cottage. They had a bed room and Tammy an I did too with a full kitchen and living room space to relax and get to know each other better. We take pride in planning what we call the “Family Reunion Format” for our events and we used the same format for our weekend at the Historic Mankin Mansion. Check in on Friday was handle with style and grace by Martin Ramirez. Breakfast was delightful, filling and healthy. Grocery stores close by and everything you need in a kitchen allowed for us to whip up a meal for the rest of the day. We loved it so much that, we booked the entire Bed and Breakfast again for a larger business meeting. Feel free to contact us for more about our stay robandtammy@thecampingparty.com

I traveled to Richmond for business and decided to try something different. I travel quite a bit and always stay at either a Marriott or Westin. It was a refreshing change to stay at an intimate and comfortable B&B. The grounds are fantastic and I can only imagine what a great place it is for a wedding. I will definitely stay here on my next trip to Richmond.

My wife and I stayed for 3 nights and attended a wedding at the Historic Mankin Mansion and, in a word, it was WONDERFUL!! Both Martin and Paula (the owners) were great and helpful in every respect. The accomodations were very nice and the welcome basket of fruit, etc... added a nice touch. The wedding was beautiful and the reception (also done on site) was a ball! After having stayed in several B & B's, we highly recommend this B & B to everyone!

Stayed one night for business in Richmond. The location is close to the city, but tucked away in a tree-lined neighborhood. My colleague and I received an upgrade from management to the Farmer's Cottage which was lovely. Very cozy and quaint, it was great to relax there after a day of travel and business. In the morning, we were brought a beautifully presented breakfast that was delicious. Did not get to see the main building because time didn't allow, but we were thrilled with the Farmers Cottage. Would highly recommend for business or vacation travel. The proprietors were a pleasure to work with.

I was only to stay here for a short stay, but was very impressed with not only the facility, but the owners as well. Paula and Martin are dear people who go out of their way to be helpful. And the property itself it beautifully maintained.

The room I stayed in, the Carriage Room, was cozy (yet still spacious). Absolutely wonderful for a romantic getaway or to just treat yourself. The game room at this B & B is full stocked with pool tables, DVDs and much, much more.

The rates are very reasonable for such a great escape. Highly recommend.

We wanted to "get away" for a one-night stay somewhere close to home so we chose the Historic Mankin Mansion. What an excellent choice! Kind of a hidden secret just outside Richmond on a beautiful piece of property. Since it was in the Spring, all the annual flowers, trees and shrubs were in full bloom and it was magnificent. At night, the grounds were even more beautiful with twinking white lights everywhere. This was once a working brickyard where bricks were made so there are stunning "works of art" made out brick everywhere. Our room was spacious, meticulously clean and very private. We were served our coffee in our room the next morning on a beautiful tray along with a fresh red rose and newspaper. After relaxing with the paper, we had a delicious hot breakfast in the main dining room of the Mansion. The owners are friendly, caring and very eager to make your stay the best that it can be. We would highly recommend this B&B to anyone. This is also a wedding resort so spread the word to your friends who are planning their wedding.
