There is nothing better on a hot day than Ricks Italian ice or frozen custard. I love the peanut butter and melon ice combined ,My husband loves the peanut butter the best. .We have tried many of the other flavors but these are our favorites. YUM .honestly we pass by this location every single day and its hard not to stop and get that frozen ice fix daily........its that good...especially on a really hot day !! You must try it !

While I don't live in Richmond, I never miss the chance to have desert at Ray's. I'm a purest and love just getting the frozen vanilla custard, awesome! But they have lots of frozen Italian Ice that you can, and most do, mix with the frozen custard. The soft serve custard comes in two flavors, vanilla and chocolate, which can be mixed in a number of different ices.

My brother loves the peanut butter ice, all by itself! A few less calories. But the black cherry and watermelon are also very good.

On the corner of Lauderdale and Church in a strip mall, behind the CVS Drug Store. The lines are very long so get there early, and be patient. Their hours are from 11:30am to 9:00pm Sunday through Thursday, and on Friday and Saturday they are open an extra hour.

This is an outdoor ice and custard joint in a strip shopping center at the corner of Church Road and Lauderdale Drive. It gets lines around the corner and you can wait 30-40 minutes. They have many flavors of ices and you can get something called a rocket that is a mix of custard and your choice of ice. You can also select one of 31 different ice cream flavors, dipped cones, and a dish to share called the cookie colossal. They have a few places to sit, and the prices are fantastic. Highly recommend to anyone in the area looking for an afternoon snack or after meal dessert!!!

I have been coming to Ray's for several years now, and there is no doubt in my mind that it is the best ice cream to be found in Richmond. The frozen custard is rich and far better than normal ice cream. I have been to other frozen custard places where they only have hard frozen custard, but at Ray's you can get the frozen custard in a soft serve. The Italian water ice mixes very well with the custard into great treats like the Rocket and the Freezie. The portions are always generous, and the prices are very reasonable. The staff are friendly and efficient, and there is rarely a long line. Do yourself a favor and check out Ray's when you're in Richmond. You'll be glad that you did.

The custard is wonderful-be creative and order a frozen one-so many to choose from. I had the chocolate custard with brownies and walnuts and it was incrediable!
