“There are better.”

It's a ripoff to charge 20 bucks for a hookah when you can get an entire package for 12 bucks and smoke at home. The food was really the only good thing about this place. It's gaudy, pretentious, and dark. You can't even smoke while you're waiting for you food - having to either go outside or upstairs to the 'club' section... but you can't eat upstairs. Aladins in Fredericksburg kicks their rear as far as value and atmosphere.

“Something for everyone”
Reviewed 25 April 2011

From creative, fresh-made sushi rolls to standards with a twist (e.g., the bruschetta), the food is amazing and is served up in a fun, Egyptian-themed dining room. In fact, the Egyptian theme continues throughout the multiple patios and decks overlooking the canal to the hip club area upstairs (even in the velvet-roped VIP lounge). The ultra-modern club features a large dance floor, as well as several comfortable seating areas - some with sofa/bed-style lounges! While I visited during the day, I look forward to checking out the club scene on a weekend evening. Multiple DJ stations ensure that the music never stops in this swank new venue.

“Worth skipping”
Reviewed 23 February 2011

I went with a group of 4 friends on a Friday night for dancing, drinks, and hookah and at first it seems like a really cool place. The decor is great, it's got a nice blend of people as customers, and it has a lot of potential. However, the way customers are treated is appalling. Each person in my group had the same reaction, we all felt like cattle. One particular thing that really made the night not so fun is that you can't order a drink from the bar unless you go to the bartender that first served you. Seriously, if you try going to any other bartender (at the same bar) they will ignore you and if you manage to flag them down by standing right in front of them they will tell you they will not serve you and to go see your original bartender. This is unacceptable. My friends and I together spend anywhere from $200-400 on drinks alone when we go out, we are very polite, laid back, hard-working people, great tippers, and like anyone just want a good time. After a couple of bad experiences in one night we decided to leave. One friend didn't know the 'rules' and tried to close her tab with the male bartender and he told her he would not close her tab and to 'move along'. Sorry guy, you represent "Off the Hookah" and you are in possession of her ID and credit card. When you say you will not close her tab and to 'move along' this now becomes borderline theft, not to mention extremely rude.

Besides the poor 'customer' service, the cost is decent given the cool setting. $5 to get in the door, $4 domestics, $7 for small tasteless highballs, $20 hookahs. But I will never spend money here again until they put an emphasis on customer service. Like anyplace, the staff has got to be top-shelf or else you are going to have a 'rail' like establishment.

One final note, the drinks are small and they taste like they are made with Shasta instead of real Coke.

“I love tapas!”
Reviewed 30 January 2011

The best Tapas restaurant in Richmond. It is located right on Canal Walk. It will be pretty eating on the patio once it warms up. The restaurant is located downstairs. It has Mediterranean food such as hummus, kebabs, and baba ghannouj. I tried it all and it was great. My favorite was the lollipop lamb chops. I did not try any dessert, but the table next to me had deep-fried cheesecake. It looked awesome. I used the $5 valet parking, but be prepared that it can take a minute to get your car on the weekend. Upstairs is a lounge and hookah bar.
