As a medical professional & Civil War History fan, the Chimborazo Museum was right up my alley. The NPS guide (Pretty sure it was Mike) was fantastic. He went in depth about Richmond during the Civil War, Reconstruction and beyond. It was a cold, snowy day and I feel lucky to have gone that day because I had him all to myself for questions! He knows his stuff & I got a great perspective from him that I wouldn't have gotten from any textbook. It's a small museum, but important, as it preserves documents & medical equipment from the CSA and it highlights medical advances made during this special time in history. Also, out back are some good views of Richmond. If you have any interest at all in the Civil War, Richmond history and/or the history of medicine, I would recommend stopping by.
