“Hollywood Costume Exhibit Excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

Visited VMFA to see Hollywood Costume. The exhibit is a thrill for movie lovers. Costumes from all eras. Some very famous some unknown to me. Loved the flow of the exhibit. I spent an hour and a half. There are clips of interviews with directors and costume designers as well as a couple of actors (Streep and DeNiro). I thought $20 entry fee high, but as the museum itself is free it seems to balance out. Also visited the exhibit on Hollywood photographs (separate $8) which was enjoyable but not as dramatic as the costumes.

“Getting better all the time..?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

I've lived in Richmond for years, but until a few years ago rarely went to Vmfa. It felt very static and staid. With the new director and renovations, the openness and quality and diversity of the exhibits has soared. Now I go at least once a month. Our city is changing for the better and with it, Vmfa.

If you have never been, try it.it is good for your soul.

“Beautiful and unique”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2013

It's a wonderful museum to visit with permanent exhibits and special exhibits. Currently they have the Hollywood exhibit and previously they have had the Chihuly exhibit, the art of India. One could easily spend a whole day there, but if you wished you could finish in half a day. The restaurant in the museum is a good place to grab a bite.

“A wonderful place to spend some leisure time”

VMFA is always fabulous: the ongoing collection as well as the temporary exhibits! They wisely charge no admission to the general collection, making it an attractive day trip for families and encouraging the next generation.
