“Amazing museum for this size city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 November 2013

The collections are wonderful for this size museum! It has been well endowed by many devoted philanthropists! I moved to Richmond two years ago from a larger Midwestern city and have been really impressed by the museum's own collections as well as its traveling exhibitions. The restaurants are also excellent. The "upstairs" fine dining restaurant, Amuse', can hold its own with some of the best restaurants in the city.

“Always a treat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 November 2013

There's something here for every age and taste. Fees only for the special exhibitions. The traveling special exhibitions often use VMFA as their only East Coast venue. The fine restaurant, Amuse, is consistently excellent and not as expensive as one might assume. The casual cafe is also quite good. Great gift shop. Beautiful and historic surroundings. What more do you want?
(Sorry I have no clue about stroller or locker storage. Check out their website at VMFA.org

“Excellent collections, incredible exhibits, and amazing accessibility”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 November 2013

This museum is open 365 days a year. Yes, holidays included. Access is free, although donations and memberships are encouraged. Because of their commitment to making art available to everyone, we have rejoined and maintained our membership for several years. The museum has attracted wonderful exhibits, from Egyptian mummies to Picasso to Chihuly glass to Hollywood costumes. The museum has superb collections, including Faberge and contemporary art. The museum store and restaurants round out a fun visit. A great way to spend an afternoon and a good reason to add Richmond to your list of places to visit. Definitely a family friendly place to visit.
