“Jewel box Museum”

One of the best small museums in the USA. Fantastic new addition to the museum was recently built. Very good restaurant and cafe - great place for a cocktail overlook the gardens. The museum owns the greatest number of Imperial Faberge eggs in the USA. Wonderful art deco furniture and accessories exhibit - beautifully exhibited. You will leave with something from the gift shop for certain.

“One of the absolute best Richmond spots!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 June 2014

We live locally and try to get to the VMFA as frequently as possible. The building, grounds, cafe, artwork, and special exhibits are all simply outstanding. We have seen Picasso, Elvis, Mummy, Chihuly and Faberge exhibits in just the last few years. I think there is a wonderful variety of artwork on a regular basis as well and love to spend an afternoon browsing followed by a snack in their delightful cafe. They have specialty sandwiches, side dishes, appetizers, baked goods, sorbets, coffees and even cocktails. If you plan to see more than one exhibit in a years time, then get the yearly membership. I would compare it to Busch Gardens or any other theme park where if you plan to go a minimum of 2 times in a season the membership pays for itself. The special exhibits can be pricey.

“Don't miss this! Beautiful Indian art collection.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 May 2014

Plan to have lunch on the deck in good weather. Food is great - many choices. There is so much to see that you need to pick and choose. We started at the top and only got to see the third floor - guess that means we have to come back and see what we missed.
