I can't believe I was unaware this wonderful gem existed until recently! This museum is well done, laid out well, and beautiful! My husband and I spent two hours and could have easily spent double that. Their ancient art section is very impressive and much larger than I would have expected. We are planning to go back soon and spend longer - definitely a must do while in Richmond!

“Beautiful Museum”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

The decor is marble floors and brightly lit rooms. While the museum does not have rooms of Impressionists for example it does display a number of painting by several artists. There is a lovely exhibit of Faberge Eggs. The gift shop is extensive. The entry cost is FREE and parking was $4.00. Museum open late Friday and Saturday nights.

We loved the art museum. The restaurant upstairs was wonderful, the food lovely and the service was outstanding. The Museum took us 4 hours to go round. A great day.

“Excellent displays.”

Spent 3 hours, could have stayed longer if time permitted. Individual docent tour was delightful. Stayed for lunch and were happily surprised with a wonderful crab cake. Will definitely return for another visit.

“brilliant gallery; good space and layout, a must”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Free to enter; a wide range of art and sculpture, with big thanks to Paul Mellon who not only donated a splendid collection of art but also contibuted to building part of the building. Lovely staff, quiet and the art is very accessible-few glass screens, no big crowds.
Additionally there is a lovelygarden with more sculptures, water features and fine vistas. Good services, parking is $5. Wonderful Amuse restaurant with good food and great view. A gem.
