“Chances missed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2014

We have went to many a science museum in our time as my wife is a science teacher.
This was by far the most disappointing. Poorly staffed and many of the exhibits broken.
Not a place I would recommend going to.
On the plus side the building itself is beautiful

“Great museum - best for kids up to age 11”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2014

iMax movie of solar weather was very cool; nice talk afterwards. Don't miss the RAT BASKETBALL! One of the funniest, quirkiest and best events that I've been to. Overall the museum does an excellent job of teaching while also making it fun (not boxes of displays -- everything can be interacted with and even as a "46 year old kid" I enjoyed a lot of them)

“So dissapointed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 February 2014 via mobile

We went for dinosaur exhibition and were so dissapointed! There were 1 dino, 1 dino`s skull, model of dino head and 4 bones, of course, everything was not real, just plastic copies. I give 2 points, because other things were fun in museum. For dinos- 0\5.

“Not worth the entry fee”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 February 2014

Dinosaur exhibit had only one skeleton on display and I don’t think it was real. A complete disappointment and not worth the $11.00 entrance fee. You’d be better off taking your child to see a movie. We will never come back!!

“$11.00 to see run-down, old, out-of-touch exhibits? No thanks!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2014

Thats right, this place wants to charge you $11.00 just to walk in the door. Not worth it at all. I understand perhaps charging people this much if their out of state visitors. I'm a virginia state resident and pay virginia taxes that help to fund this museum. The least they could do is allow virginia residents to receive a big discount. The exhibits (most of them) will do one thing. Make you feel like you're back in the 1980's. You are better off visiting the Fine Arts Museum of Virginia (free to see most exhibits). Or look for other stuff to do. . .

Hi, Chris!

We hope you'll be able to visit again soon - a lot has changed at the Science Museum of Virginia since your last trip! We have a new digital Dome system, allowing for giant screen movies and Cosmic Expeditions that are 14 times the HD resolution of your TV at home! Our newest traveling exhibition, Wicked Plants, has received rave reviews from guests and has proven to be a fun exercise in just how well you think you know the world of botany.

We also recommend testing your mind and body in our interactive exhibit Boost!

If you have any questions or would like to discuss your visit, please email kgentry@smv.org.

Thank you!
