I'm a frequent user of TripAdvisor and have used it to assist our travel plans in Seattle, Montreal, Yellowstone and many other places. Up until now, I've never felt compelled to write until a visit to Millie's Restaurant. First, it's an old diner but that only adds to its appeal. It's located just outside the downtown area. There are not a lot of seats so arrive early or be prepared to wait. I arrived when they opened and within 30 minutes there was a wait. The menu and wine selection were superb. Menu seletions ranged from rack of lamb, butternut squash risotto, to salmon with pumpernickel bread pudding with a buerre blanc sauce (that was my selection). The wine selection was equally impressive, both by the bottle and glass.
If your traveling on business and solo, they'll seat you at the counter with other solos; while seated there, those I spoke with all were told by locals that Millie's was the place to eat.
I would make it a point to dine at Millie's. Lastly, if so inclined and the wait is long, there is a pub located about 100 yards down the street to let you see yet another slice of Richmond.
