I'm not complaining, but my sandwich was delicious and HUGE! I took home half and had enough for two more meals. Cute, cozy, casual restaurant.

“Unique, Interesting Restaurant”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

My wife and I went here on the recommendation of a person on the street that we asked about restaurants. This is a small, neighborhood restaurant in a residential area near VCU in Richmond. It is not a fancy place; the decor and seating is basic. The patrons seemed to be locals and students. It was full when we got there so we found seats at the bar. It was a little noisy and warm since we were close to the "kitchen", which was pretty much just a stove and a grill. However, it was very interesting to watch the interactions of the cooks, servers, and the staff who brought dishes and ingredients from the back. It looked chaotic but they were very efficient and worked great together. Our waitress was very friendly. We had paella with mussels, shrimp, and clams. It was excellent, reasonably priced, and the quantity was huge. Unfortunately we couldn't take the leftovers with us since we were in a motel. This is a fun place to go if you want something unique and different from the usual chains.

“The morning, well afternoon Breakfast”
Reviewed 24 October 2013 credit card Amex Cardmember Review

Still hanging from the night before, Kuba-Kuba was a great recommendation I was given by a friend.
Service and food were great. I was disappointed that a bottle of water I brought before entering the restaurant I was asked to place in a bag or a cup on the table.

“Nice atmosphere”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

Recommended by our B&B. Don't be too put off by the industrial appearance of the interior - it's a real restaurant run by real people. However the decor is basic so won't suit some tastes. The menu is a sort of cuban and mexican fusion - clearly very popular with locals as there was a large take away trade. The kitchen is open plan and visible from the entire restaurant.

Food was good and plenty of it (paella and pulled pork) though the meat was slightly over salted and the rice a bit bland for our tastes which with the decor detracts from top marks for us.

“Don't forget dessert!”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

Get here early because the place can go from having 5 open tables to a line that goes out the door and around corner. The Kubanaso is delicious and is huge for only being under $8. No matter how full you are, though, do not leave Kuba-Kuba without getting a piece of their vanilla tres leche cake. If you go with friends order different things and just sample/share. You wont be disappointed!
