“Simply delicious”

Tiny bistro setting beautifully decorated. I could stare at the floor tiles all day-so pretty! The service is immediately welcoming and willing to answer questions and make recommendations from the small but enticing menu. My husband had a homemade sausage and beans and I had an eggplant pasta dish for lunch. They were both simply prepared but perfect in letting their very good ingredients shine. The portions were very generous too so we got to savor leftovers late night! Coffee was excellent. We will be back as often as possible!

“Straight ahead food in Richmond”
Reviewed 9 February 2014

Had a very nice meal at DInamo with an old college friend. We ordered the braised octopus and beef cheek entrees. These may seem rather exotic, but the preparation was uncomplicated, and almost made them seem to be comfort foods. The beef cheek reminded me of the beef stew I had growing up, only much richer and more flavorful. The accompanying wedge of polenta was outstanding: crisp on the outside and tender & moist inside. The octopus was perfectly cooked in an amazing sauce. The portions were rather large; I had the beef cheek for lunch the next day, and like the beef stew I remembered, it tasted even better after resting overnight. The turnip soup was a winner as well. No room for coffee or desert afterwards. The room is pleasant; it reminded me of an unpretentious European bistro.

I am looking forward to exploring the rest of the menu on a future trip to Richmond.

“Great, Simple, and Cozy”
Reviewed 30 January 2014 via mobile

This is a great place. Don't hesitate to visit. We were pleasantly surprised by the simplicity of the menu and clean presentation of our selections. The food has a very comfortable and home quality. The wine menu is straightforward. Deserts and after dinner coffees are on point. This has potential to become a favorite! Beef cheek was amazing. The mussels and clams were near "best" in the city. Add whipped cream and cherries to the chocolate torte with your latte. :) Tip: Park in the VCU parking deck across the street. Parking on the street is scarce. Enjoy!

“Great breakfast, can't wait to try dinner menu”
Reviewed 30 July 2013

Had breakfast at dinamo yesterday. Always been a fan of Ed Vasio's places and this one is no exception. More elegant, edgy decor. Loved the art. Stopped by on our way to work and had a relaxed, delicous meal. House cured salmon with crostini, cream cheese, red onions, capers and sprouts for me. The salmon was delicate and flavorful. Spouse had eggs, fried polenta (like Ed serves with the pork chops at MaMa Zu's) and house made sausage. He said that there was so much food that he'd have to take some with him for lunch, but it was all so good, that he couldn't resist and ate it all. The macchiati were great - they have a terrific Italian espresso machine. It is a tiny place, so you'll have to time your visit. We looked at the dinner menu - smaller, more varied menu than MaMa Zu or Edo's Squid. Can't wait to try it. It was such a nice way to start our day that we've decided that we must do it at least once a month.
