“Good Ambiance ok food”
Reviewed 8 March 2014

The best thing about this restaurant is the atmosphere, it feels energetic, especially on the weekends. The food in general is a let down, the last time I went I had the onion soup which is great( maybe one of the only things that is great along with the fresh bread and the selected cheese board). honestly this is supposed to be a French Bistro and they cant make a decent crepe? I tried the chicken crepe and it was a thick ,greasy crepe with hardly any chicken in it, terrible!. My husband had a salad and said it was a let down, nothing special.( and I had to really talk him into going back there, just one more time,Now He really doesn't want to go back!) I literally had to send my crepe back, something I very rarely do. Crepes are supposed to be paper thin and NOT Thick & greasy! I recommend if you go there you either sit at the bar and eat the onion soup and cheese board :-) or sit in the window area where you can "people watch" to your hearts delight . On a plus note, they do have a good wine selection!

The location of the Can Can is good especially for visitors who want something to do for a few hours as it an Area called Cary town, a location in the midst of Richmond with lots of boutique's and small gift shops.

“reasonable French Bistro with hints of authenticity”
Reviewed 5 March 2014

Very popular near West End spot with moderately good food but a long way from true authentic bistro fare. Steak, frites, muscles good. Many salads and other specialties not up to par but service and wine list are superb

“Paris close to home”
Reviewed 4 March 2014

Fantastique! Richmond now has some great eateries, but most don't "transport" you to another place as CanCan does. The ambience is just lovely and truly makes you feel like you are in a Parisian brasserie. I go here often so am reviewing for both breakfast and dinner.

Meeting someone for early a.m. coffee? Check it out - awesome caffeine options AND the best carbs west of Paris; the demi baguette with REAL butter is well worth it and you have the rest of the day to burn it off. Prices are tres reasonable.

Dinner - yes it can be loud and lively. It's especially fun in warmer weather as they open the window doors and you can watch the eclectic Carytown life go by. Their steak and frites are highly recommended. If you can plan ahead - try to make it there on Bastille Day (July 14). We took our daughter (born on that day) for her 16th birthday in 2013. There is live CanCan dancing on the beautiful, long copper topped bar. Great fun!!
