“A great B&B in Richmond”
Reviewed 9 June 2013

We throughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful historic home that's literally steps from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Our hostess, Anna, is a genuinely nice person who made us feel welcome and was very helpful in pointing out attractions and restaurants in the area. The Judge Rhea suite was beautifully appointed. Our only regret is that we had just one day to spend in Richmond. Would definitely like to come back and spend a long weekend exploring this terrific place. Highly recommended.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our way further South.. We stayed in the Carriage Room which, although compact, is well appointed with a comfortable bed. Anna is a generous and helpful host. The 5pm wine and cheese gathering is delightful and a chance to meet some interesting and interested people. The location of the b&b is really handy for the museums with restaurants close by. For some obscure reason I like to try local transport when I'm visiting a new city. We tried the bus service into town. It was ok going in, but be aware, the service which goes closest to the b&b stops running from about 11.30 until 14.00.
Anna was really interested in our trip and we felt as though we were really amongst friends during our stay. We would certainly recommend this b&b to anyone visiting Richmond for any reason.

A few years ago, I had never stayed in a B&B. My girlfriend really wanted to, so we were travelling to Richmond and stayed at Anna's place. I was drawn in by the Carriage House room, since we would have a little privacy out of the main house. It was an exceptional stay. In the ensuing years, we have stayed in B&B's in Europe and the US. This is still my favorite. Last fall, we were heading to the Virginia. coast and went out of our way to have another stay here. It was even better the second time. If you have never stayed in a B&B, give this one a try. If you have, stay here and see how this one stacks up against your favorites. Richmond is a nice city, but we came out of our way to stay here again just for the room, the hostess, and the wine and cheese socializing. I should mention that the house and neighborhood are also very nice. She showed us all the rooms, and it is within walking distance of the museum, shops, and places to eat. The attention to quality here is exceptional. A guy comes in the morning to deliver fresh roasted coffee beans. One of the cheeses we were introduced to here has become a favorite. Highly recommended

Stayed on Thanksgiving, 2012 after a visit with family and could not have had a more pleasant stay. We were in the Judge Rhea Suite, which was comfortably and elegantly furnished. It was quiet and we loved the room darkening shades in the sleeping area that blocked out the morning sun. But the absolute star of the suite was the bathroom. With a two-person clawfoot tub and steam shower, I'm surprised we didn't spend the entire 24 hours in that one room. Anna was pleasant and welcoming upon our arrival and our breakfast the following morning was fantastic. Local bacon and breads and a delicious egg dish. It was also nice to be so close to the Virginia Museum of Fine Art. We discovered it was open on Thanksgiving and strolled over after check in. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: With the exception of the Carriage House, the rooms are all on the second floor, so if stairs are an...

We came to Richmond for the Dominio Riverrock festival, and spent two nights at the Museum District B&B. We we extremely pleased with our stay! The Judge Rhea suite was massive, and beautifully decorated. We enjoyed the wine and cheese in the evenings, and the breakfast was simple but absolutely delicious. Anna went above and beyond to accommodate us and make us feel welcome. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Richmond.

Room Tip: The Judge Rhea suite is like a small apartment. It's both beautiful and comfortable, and would...

I only spent one night there, but thoroughly enjoyed it. At 5pm the guests are provided wine and cheese and camaraderie with other guests. The breakfast was plentiful, and again the company was wonderful. The proprietor, Anna, provides local maps and recommends places to eat. It is within easy walking distance to restaurants and shops on Cary Street and others, and the museums are very close. I stayed in the Carriage House and it was so quiet and comfortable with a real claw foot tub, a small tv, robes, hair dryer, shampoo/conditioner etc. are provided. Highly recommend staying here if you are in the area.

Room Tip: The Carriage House provides you with more privacy.

We've stayed in a number of B&B's and have never been as pleased with our stay as here. The city is lovely, the neighborhood is walkable, diverse and interesting. And Anna, the hostess and owner does her utmost to make her guests comfortable and acquainted with all Richmond has to offer-- right down to telling you where to park if you are going downtown. Our suite was spacious and very comfortable. Breakfasts were delicious: organic eggs and nitrate-free bacon with fresh fruit and the most amazing almond croissants, plus fresh squeezed orange juice. The wine and cheese served at 5pm was a great social "hour" that more than once lasted until 10 pm with Anna's friends and neighbors joining in to share and discuss all that's great about Richmond.

Room Tip: The suite was fantastic, living room with separate office and bedroom and a bthroom that offers ever...
