Such a wonderful stay in a beautifully restored 3 story brick home. We stayed in the 'Carriage House', separate quarters in the back, that was very cozy and comfortable. Just right for our four night stay. We were fortunate to have a peek at the rest of the elegantly furnished rooms and baths, spacious and just simply gorgeous!

Breakfast is incredibly tasty, as the owner, Anna, is an excellent cook. The fare is a well planned mixture of American and Contintal - you will not go away hungry! She also graciously hosts afternoon wine tasting with a splendid assortment of international cheeses and crackers.

Public transportation is close (1block !) and easy to navigate to the colleges, downtown, and historical sites.

The Museum District B & B is wonderfully located in Richmond's Fan district - directly opposite both the Museum and Art Gallery (has terrific pictures from the Mellon collection.) It's a short walk to the magnificent long stretch of period homes in Monument Avenue and there are lots of good local restaurants also within walking distance. We stayed in the Judge Rea Suite - loads of space and a magnificent period-style bathroom as well as a sitting room and separate study. The house itself is full of charm and atmosphere - books and magazines everywhere. The owner Anna is a mine of information about things to do in this interesting town and is very knowledgeable about food and the best places to eat. Her breakfast was magnificent - including seasonal berries, warm croissants and freshly baked bread. We were sorry not to be staying for longer. This must rate as one of Virginia's top and most characterful and charming B & Bs.

We stayed in the Suite, equipped with a comfortable setting room, with great TV, complete channels. In the adjacent private office, I used my laptop via the wireless connection. The suite bath featured a large antique tub, a double shower--with steam room. Prior to going out to dinner, Anna served 4 fine cheeses and a choice of red or white. We decided on the French white--really great wine--I have since purchased a case. Anna Currence's dinner recommendation was spot on. The next morning we enjoyed a excellent breakfast--juice, fruit, yogurt, eggs, hand-cut smoked bacon, four breads (including fresh muffins and butter croissant), french preserves, english tea and great coffee from a french press. Breakfast was an enjoyable event. In terms of comfort, this B&B has to rank at the top with attention to detail and care for guests. This is the place to stay in Richmond!

Anna was very helpful with a detailed street map of Richmond. She highlighted places to go, things to do, and restaurants to visit. She even drew us a diagram in felt pen (she used different colors for the trip out and back) along the correct streets so that we could find our way to and from the city and its attractions.
The accomodations were first rate and the breakfast was fit for a gourmet. We loved the croissants, fresh squeezed orange juice, and "free range" bacon.
We cannot wait to go back to lovely Richmond and this awesome B and B!

My husband and I live in Richmond and were looking for a local B&B to getaway for the night. We had such a wonderful experience. Anna was a pleasure-she knew the perfect balance of being available and giving us space. We loved staying in the carriage house and it gave us the option to come and go as we pleased. We were delighted to come back at night and find a tray with the rest of the bottle of wine we enjoyed on it. Even though we stayed there in March 2008 and I am writing a review in August, I wanted to give credit where credit was due. Highly recommended for a stay-cation. We went back home feeling refreshed, even though we were about 10 minutes from our house, it was a place of relaxation and pampering.

We had a wonderful visit at the Museum District B&B because of Anna's warm hospitality. Our room was spacious and included a relaxing steam bath. However, what separated this b&b from others we have visited, is that the owner is friendly & generous, and seemed to want to get to know her guests. She even arranged for us have a history tour of Richmond with a neighborhood friend who is also a professor at University of Richmond. After the tour, we enjoyed chatting with Anna and the professor over some quality wine and an excellent and generous cheese selection. Breakfast was ample with freshly made quality croissants & other breads, bacon, eggs, a selection of fruits..... more than I could eat!

The location is great. In fact, it is right across the street from the art museum which is free. It is a short walk to Careytown with interesting shops and restaurants. Two blocks down the street from the b&b is a wonderful restaurant, but I forgot the name.

There are other b&bs with more elaborate furnishings and elegant settings. This b&b is a gem because of Anna. Stay here for her personal touch and a taste of Richmond hospitality.

Unbelievable! Serendipidy led us there and we found a very pleasant, interested and interesting owner, a perfect location near great sites in the fan district (museums, etc.) and restaurants, comfortable furnishing (including a steam shower AND bathtub and bidet,), scrumpteous breakfast, wine and imported cheeses in the late afternoon, wonderful bedding, ample accessible parking, fascinating wall photos and paintings and spacious rooms.

We recommended highly to anyone who wants a surprise treat and treatment in Richmond.
