“Excellent stay”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

We only stayed for one night but this sufficed to experience what a fine hotel this really is. The setting, the quality of the rooms and above all the level of service are all very good.
Miriam, at the reception desk, proved to be very helpful and thoughtful in every aspect.

just got home from a 4-day break in castelfalfi with the family...where to start?!...

this is 'officially' a 3-star hotel but i've stayed in some 5-star hotels that aren't this good!...we went to check out the development, celebrate my son's 21st and play a little golf

the golf is mind-blowing...but beware...it's LONG and tough...the championship course is called the 'mountain course' and when you play it, you'll understand why it's called that...we walked and carried but, if you're not fit, don't even think about it...take a buggy...AND A CAMERA!!!...every hole is like a picture postcard and the views will take your breath away...alternatively, if you want a more leisurely game, play the 9-hole 'lakes course'...not as stunning as the 'mountain' but still a great test of golf

the hotel staff cannot be faulted...as a 30-bed hotel it has a wonderful intimate feel to it and everybody will know your name by the 2nd day...rooms are beautiful and comfortable...absolutely delightful but a couple of small points on the downside...the remote control on the tv in your room is the most bizzare thing you've ever seen...even bill gates would struggle!!!...breakfast isn't served until 7:30 and we had an early departure for the airport...would be great if you could get even just a cup of coffee at say 6 or 7 o'clock...that said, one of the staff made us 6 cappuccini to send us on our way so a MASSIVE thank you for that

if you go, you'll no doubt do the obvious touristy trips to pisa, siena, lucca, san gimignano etc [don't miss any of these out] BUT...a word of caution...don't even attempt to find this place without an up-to-date sat nav...it's in the middle of nowhere, the roadsigns are virtually non-existent and they have a tendency to close off some of the roads without advance warning...trying to get back to our hotel from siena at midnight was, to say the least, an adventure!

i could go on but one final tip...be sure to go and eat at the restaurant/pizzeria next to the hotel...'il rosmarino'...outstanding food, outstanding service, outstanding value

if you're planning a visit and you have any questions, e-mail me at mickvalerio@btinternet.com and i'll be delighted to try and help you out...buon viaggio!!!

Me and my partner stayed here in early August for five nights and were really impressed by the stunning hotel and grounds. The hotel itself is a renovated tobacco warehouse and the developers have kept many of the original wooden beams and ceilings which add real character to the modern, stylish and high-spec refurbishment. We went for a Classic room which was spacious and had a separate living area with sofa etc. The pool area is absolutely beautiful and just across the road from the hotel. The pools are open to the public for a fee but are free for hotel guests - we were a little worried that the pools would be really busy as they were open to the public but there are plenty of sunbeds etc so there was no need to worry! The views from the pool area are incredible, looking out across the valley and golf courses (which incidentally, my partner said looked great but he didn't get a chance to play unfortunately).

When we were there the rest of the Castelfalfi estate was still being renovated (Castelfalfi is a medieval hamlet which was derelict until a German development company bought it with the intention of returning it to its former glory) but the building works were well out of the way of the hotel so we weren't disturbed. I'd like to go back when the project is complete as I'm sure it will be stunning.

Castelfalfi is in a great location for exploring the Chianti region, San Gimignano etc, and if you get the chance, Lucca is a really lovely place (much nicer than Pisa in my opinion!). In the immediate vicinity of the hotel there is one restaurant (Il Rosmarino) which serves pretty good food and also wine and olive oil produced on the estate. If you want to eat elsewhere you'll definitely need to drive out (although when the whole estate is completed there may be other options).

Finally, the staff were always very friendly, really helpful but not at all intrusive - nothing seemed too much trouble.

All in all, a fantastic place to stay and somewhere I'd love to go back to.

As has been said many times before all staff were great. Especially reception and breakfast staff. They went out of there way to find an out of hours dentist for my wife on a Saturday afternoon and all were friendly and helpful. The breakfast staff were also very attentive and did whatever they could to make our stay as pleasant as possible, even giving my wife a big hug when we were leaving! Hotel is new and spotless some great restaurants in the area, though a car is needed. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Thank you for a great stay.

This is a new, modern and stylish hotel which is underpriced for what it offers. We got the superior room for 140 euros per night, which was as big as a suite in other hotels. Perhaps the only complaint is that the TV in the superior room was not facing the bed, but other than this, we absolutely loved this hotel.

Very comfortable hotel with excellent staff in a beautiful rural location. Good restaurants available in the area (including next door to hotel). Great golf course about 5 minutes drive away - a real test and challenge and with helpful staff. The renovation of the nearby village is not a problem, and is interesting to see what is being developed - the whole complex is known as the Toscana Resort Castelfalfi and will grow over the next few years. Enjoy it while you can.

Room Tip: Suggest choose a Superior room for extra space and comfort.
