An interesting visit to the mines. Visited with children of 2 of 4. That's about the youngest they should be for this. Our visit started with a guided tour about 30 minutes through a mine. In Italian of course. You can borrow an audio guide but it is of course not the same. Then walked up the hill for 10 minutes. Waited 30 minutes to catch the small train. 20 minute ride through a mine. Nice experience. Of course speak is in Italian. You are handed a paper in English in advance but it's to dark to read during the ride! Train is stopped during at a dark spot. Totally black! Great effect but advise children. Our children enjoyed it. Stops a station from where you can walk to a castle. Not for small children. We waited 10 minutes for train to go back.
Tours in English would be great. More "stuff" on exhibition during train ride would be nice as we didn't don't understand what was said. Children quickly loose interest in rock walls passing by.
Takes 10 minutes to walk down from train to parking lot and ticket office.
Overall a nice experience.

this tip I found thanks to tripadvisor. One is the place where it joins prochazka with knowledge of the places that dealt with the mining of copper and lead ore and many other minerals. Leave the car in the parking lot, head to the info center which is the exhibition of minerals, forward a ticket to the inputs of a train. mine tunnel route is really great. or da whole journey on foot, and back by train. I plan it already at the information center, where you can buy the necessary tickets. there is an optimal way on foot to go up to San Silvestro and back train. Do not forget to buy water on the road, next to the information center is a refreshment. gave way already can not buy anything.

As others have mentioned the narration during the train ride is in Italian. What makes this worst is that on the journey up the hill it stops suddenly and all the lights go out. With my broken Italian I managed to understand this is just part of the tour but for children this could be terrifying, I understand when it Italy you would expect Italian to be spoken but some warning, especially as there were a number of young children of different nationalites on the train would have been good. Also (again not clear) you need to go to a different part of the park to get a ticket and this is a fair stroll.(not ideal for small children on a hot day)

Finally this is purely a train ride through a mine. Don't expect any more then that i.e. scenes under the ground showing how it used to be. If you are staying close and like trains go along, but leave the kids at home and don't drive a long way to get there.

Dear Sir,

first of all we regret that you didn’t enjoy the visit in our archeological mines park. I saw that you visited only a part of this park, the Lanzi-Temperino tunnel. The tour is developed on a train that runs in a real mining tunnel, used in the last Century to extract and to transport the ores.

During the tour it is possible to see the mining woks and the machineries used by miners. The train stops only once and for a few, just to listen to a poem dedicated to the park, written by a miner who worked in this mine. The light are turned off for few seconds, just for a stage effect.

During the tour the guide speaks Italian, but when foreigner guests by the ticket, we always give them a translation in English, French or German of the tour. Downloadable audioguides about this visit will be available in a while.

Reaching the train station the guests could also visit two exhibitions of machineries and documents about the miners’ life. All the panels are written in English and Italian. The path between the ticket office and the train station is about 700 mt, easy also for children.

In the park it is also possible to visit another mining tunnel on foot, The Temperino Mine; for this visit audioguides in English, French and German are available.

We try to offer the best services to all the different kind of guests, but it’s not easy to satisfy every expectation.

We thank you for your suggestions and will improve our services as best as we can.

Best regards
