We went on a wine tour with Gusto Wine Tours in November 2008. It was a beautiful fall day and we had a wonderful time. The tour organizers are extremely well-organized and they selected four beautiful vineyards in Umbria to visit for wine tasting.
There are a huge number of vineyards in the area (I think over 70 in all.) Most of these vineyards are small, family owned operations that produce very high quality wine. However, most of these wine are not exported.
We also had a memorable lunch (as only the Italians can do) at a lovely agriturismo (a small farm hotel) out in the countryside.
The tour operators that day were British. They speak British English and have a very dry sense of humor which made the trip even more fun.
We have been to Italy on numerous occasions and will take this tour again in the future. We recommend it highly.
