rooms average not cleaned very well when we arrived but halfway through holiday they must have changed cleaners and it improved in cleanliness. had to report overheated broken hairdrier four times before anyone came to repair it. some of the reception staff were not over friendly and quite offhand. but on average food and general cleanliness of the hotel was good. overall i would not return to malta, all the building work and road works which made the place dusty not only in qawra but gozo as well had put me off and the people did not appear as friendly as i was informed.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view room with balcony on the third floor if possible.

We stayed at the Dolmen for two weeks in a standard room bed and breakfast, myself, my husband and three young boys. The first room was small and no balcony, this was immediately resolved to a larger room and a sea view, there was still no balcony but we could have had one the following day, however the room we were offered was large and spacious and ultimately posed no risk of my 21 month old either throwing toys over the balcony or worse still himself so we were more than satisfied. Staff moved the cot and endsured towels etc were available in the new room. Breakfast was ample with plenty of choice and as we sat in the same area each morning the waiters got to know you to the point where I didn't have to ask for soya milk for my middle son as the waiter was already onto it. This is a large busy hotel but with a very personal touch, the large outdoor space meant you were not on top of other guests. Reception staff were very helpful and obliging. Our only niggle was the air conditioning, however we went to reception and they immediately provided a fan. Whatever our ask during the stay, the Dolmen were only too happy to oblige. Would recommend paying for the on site car park if hiring a car, it was €30 for the two weeks but well worth the money. As parking is at a premium it was very handy having secure parking on your door step without having the drive round looking for somewhere to park. Overall I would highly recommend the Dolmen.

half an hour of free wifi per device or 2 euro per hour
pool open two hours late everyday
staff rude, example

And if you go all inclusive make sure you know EXACTLY what this entitles you too.

Just returned from a weeks holiday at the Dolmen resort. We booked all inclusive plus through travel republic. We arrived at the hotel about 2pm Saturday afternoon, as we had not had lunch we thought we could get a little snack to keep us going till dinner. We went to the café delos and tried to order some food when we where told by the stroppy barmen that snacks where not included in the all inclusive package outside certain times. These where between 3-5pm were a few crusty cheese sandwiches, ham sandwiches, cakes, ice cream and tea & coffee where laid out. This was not supervised and anyone could wander in and help themselves (which they did),This really annoyed me as I had paid for this as part of the all inclusive package but other guests just came in and helped themselves.

I complained to the manager and explained that my booking was all inclusive plus which I understood to mean that snacks and ice cream were available all day, He laughed and said all inclusive plus doesn't exist and to take up any complaints with travel republic which I found very disrespectful.

The food in the hotel is not too bad but I wouldn't say it was 4 star standard, breakfast is quite good but lunch and dinner could be better,

Don't be fooled by the free Wi-Fi it only lasts for half an hour then you have to pay,

We was given room 423 which is a twin room that has a balcony for 1 person it is the smallest balcony I have ever seen, if you request a double room that suggests it is for 2 people who might want to sit out on the balcony together, but you could only do this if you sat on each others lap !

I was disappointed with Malta even though my family are from there, it has changed over the years, the service is poor, a lot of the people are rude and have no manners and they all seem like they want to rip you off.

Apart from all that the hotel is kept clean and in a good location, but that's about the only good thing I can say about it.

Oh and the A/C is really noisy.

Primary bus terminus right outside.
MaltaPost post office just 30 meters away.
Plenty a cafes and Souvenir shops around the adjacent local street.
Nice size supermarket opposite for all the grocery shopping if needed.
On-site restaurants are excellent.
Right on the beach at St. Paul's Bay. (great view from the Sea View room)
Plus an on-site real 5000 year old Neolithic Temple next to the pools, (a little Stonehenge).
Cheap on-site internet service.

It is an older hotel, but the value is excellent when considering comparable hotels.
I will be staying at the Dolmen when in Malta next mostly due to it's ideal location.

Room Tip: Take the SEA VIEW room.

A great hotel, great location, the staff are not the most kindest people but the managers are very nice and helpful. The massage in their hotel spa is one of the best massages I've ever had. The cleaners are very noisy in the morning when they are cleaning next door.
I've had my wedding reception there on the beach, it was perfect. We were 100 % satisfied! we will definitely go back to the Dolmen hotel.

Room Tip: We were staying on the 6th floor in a suite, our sea view was absolutely out of this world.

Even though the comfort of the rooms were average,I would come back & stay.The pool selections were fabulous,& hotel facilities were great.The high light of my stay was the bar pool & fun activities Organised by the awesome animation team.
