I booked a sea-view ( A must if you book here ) - I had room 557. Which was on the fifth floor, with two working (sometimes dodgy) lifts, which were ALWAYS in use!!

The hotel needs a nip and tuck here and there, a few chips on the outside surface, the customer service (which many other reviewers have commented on here) is what they say it is, not four stars. A crash course in English for the staff wouldn't go a miss. It was mostly German and Dutch we were sharing with, which wasn't a problem, as long as you got up early to book your sun bed with a towel!

Dinner was good, however badly organised. As everyone rushes in, and its a feeding feast! With alot of people rushing in and around the food. However the free drinks, Pepsi, 7UP were always cold although only provided in small 75ml glasses - but you can always refill. The cold salad (tuna shells) turned my stomach badly and i complained to the food manager who didn't really seem to care however did offer me a free dinner that evening. However due to how I felt, I didn't even take up the offer.

That said, the following day, my towel which was in my cupboard went missing. After searching the whole room, i decided it had been stolen. I contacted the front of house manager, Jonathan who was semi-interested, and thought i was making the whole thing up to which surprised and shocked me as this is supposed to be a four star hotel!! I knew by this time, i should of booked the Hilton which is just down the road. Jonathan after two days of chasing myself, finally didn't take responsibly and simply sent me a letter quoting a goodwill gesture that he will award me a free nights stay, which is acceptable - however after three days of not having my towel and chasing myself, i feel if i didn't, then i wouldn't of got anywhere near it. Another thing, no CCTV within the main room halls? How do they know what there staff and cleaners are up to?? - However after reports the owners son drives around in a Ferrari, this shows where this hotels extra costs are paying towards. Perhaps they should put some money into the whole hotel to bring it to a four star....which it promises!

The Wifi is shocking, not only do you have to pay for it, 10 Euro for up to 6 hours, however the wifi dips out and you have to always re-sign in and activate it once again, which is very annoying keeping up with work emails and family at home.

The entertainers at the resort, the Animation team were always on there A Game and made sure the children were being kept to, while I could easily chill out by one of there three pools on the resort. With many of the crew organising evening comedy shows in the main conference hall.

Overall, the main reason was to visit Malta for the third time, after staying in an apartment and then a house the second time, it was a reasonable stay. However I would not return and simply pay more for a better hotel.

Room Tip: I would pick a Sea View room. I stayed in 557 and my friend stayed in 559.

This was our 4th stay at the Dolmen and it was even better than the last time we stayed here. We booked a family suite which was massive (2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 ensuite!) with a huge sitting area and terrace overlooking the pools and sea. The facilities at the hotel are excellent with plenty to do for everyone. The animation team were great, with activities organised throughout the day for adults and kids. We stayed on a half-board basis and the food was excellent with plenty of choices, including some authentic Maltese dishes. All in all a great holiday and we'll definitely be back.

Room Tip: Family suites are highly recommended.

Very disappointed with the attitudes of the bar staff, particularly in the Delos Bar. Overall the hotel was very clean and the bedrooms were a good size. Unfortunately the rudeness from the bar staff let the holiday down. One example of an event that occurred during our stay at the Dolmen is, after dinner we went to the Delos Bar for a liqueur at what we knew was a 'table service' bar. After waiting 15 minutes, I approached two bar men who were both playing on a mobile phone and asked if I needed to order my drinks at the bar as nobody had come over to the table. I was abruptly told that it was table service and the staff were busy so take a seat!!! About 5 minutes later, we were then approached by a waitress to take our drinks order. We were then served a liqueur in a half pint tumbler even though the correct glasses were on a shelf behind the bar!
Not really a 4 star hotel as stated on the website... I would say a maximum of a 3 star!!
I would not recommend this hotel.

Having read some of the reviews I can only believe the writers stayed in a different hotel! We booked a basic room with B&B through a budget hotel broker and cheekily asked for a sea-view if one was available. We not only got the sea view but a a 1-bed apartment with a bedroom jaccuzzi as well! The room was spotlessly clean and the housekeeping was faultless throughout. The air conditioning in the room was powerful and efficient. Without exception the hard-working staff were polished, friendly and always ready to return a smile or a greeting. The breakfast buffet offered an enormous, well prepared choice which catered for all tastes and (unlimited) appetites. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening (too many choices around!) but did enjoy the poolside barbecue (the first apparently) which again was beautifully prepared with poolside tables and linen tablecloths. All the pools are clean and well maintained and even on the busiest days we could find a sunbed somewhere. The beach resort is a pleasant spot with a good restaurant (try the detox fruit platter!) and a bar overlooking the crystal clear sea. On departure (at 4am) we were offered coffee by the night manager even though the restaurant had yet to open - a nice touch. Is the Dolmen a four star? Oh yes. And it has the staff to match.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view even if you pay extra. The view is breathtaking.

The hotel is huge with plenty of facilities shared between actual hotel guests and those on Timeshare exchange. We had a 1 week timeshare exchange and opted for a double room that sleeps 6. The room was a huge corner plot with a balcony that could have easily fitted 15+ sun loungers on, and had the sun all day. We used the main (Adult) pool every day which is fresh water and also the hotels private beach and sunbathing area. (And another pool). There is daily entertainment laid on for the younger ones with their own pool and bathing area. There is also an excellent SPA on site which do great last minute offers and also fresh beach towels as many times as you want in a day. The hotel main restaurant is excellent and you get as much as you want buffet (With Wine) for €22. The hotel also has it's own 'Pub Themed' bar (Templers) and a beach bar and cafe/restaurant.
The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the center of town with plenty of restaurants/bars if you want to get out.

Room Tip: If you are timeshare try to get a 2 bedroom apartment as they nearly all face the sea and have a bal...

The Dolmen in Bugibba is a very satisfactory and clean hotel. We stayed in the Superior room on the sixth floor which was spacious with a large balcony providing breathtaking views of the sea during the day and night. The staff was always ready to help and answer every question we had. I would like to thank especially to Catherine Camilleri, the reservation manager, for helping us to upgrade our room to Superior. We enjoyed the spa area with its different pools and my wife had a wonderful massage in the Mioka parlor.
The hotel is situated outside the central Valletta/Sliema area of Malta but there is a very convenient bus connection to every part of the island, just from the other side of the hotel wall. We enjoyed evening walks around the St. Paul's bay and took an exciting boat cruise from the nearby marina.
We had the kosher HB package. Our meals were served in the Bet Chabad restaurant situated just next to the hotel. The food was very professional and tasty and the restaurant staff was very friendly and efficient.
We would surely recommend the Dolmen hotel to our friends.
