“Great value for money clean & great location!!”
Reviewed 21 October 2012

It is fair to say that in hindsight, I wish I hadn't read the reviews before staying at this hotel. I couldn't believe the extreme views of people which unfortunately did create some anxiety for us all. I travelled with my partner & parents, we were greeted by a very warm & friendly receptionist. Our rooms were over looking the sea & were both clean & comfortable. There was a flat screen TV in the room, it only has a couple of English speaking channels but we spent very little time in our room so this did not bother us. To get the reviews into some perspective I think that most of the negative reviews have been based on the minority's poor experiences, the majority of people staying here probably haven't added a review at all & all those we spoke to could not have spoken highly enough of this hotel, most of who stay here every year & some who travel 2-3 times a year to the Qawra palace hotel, surely this speaks for itself.

We stayed 10th to 18th October on an all inclusive basis. The food was amazing, there was a huge variety & you were often spoilt for choice. The whole time we were there the place was continually being cleaned including the pool area. The entertainment was OK, & the location of the hotel was great as it is close to the bus station & local amenities.

We recommend you go on the North & South island tour bus, really good value for money. Malta is truly beautiful country which we hope to visit again. The sea is warm & there are opportunities for swimming every where.

Please don't rely on the reviews, just book it & enjoy !!!

Room Tip: Book a sea view room- well worth the extra!!

Rooms in need of updating and fumagating. We were allocated our first room which had damp flaky plaster falling on bed. This was the 5th floor but when we spoke to another guest the following day they had a worse experience as they had cockroaches crawling over them during their first night on the 5th floor. The Restaurant Air Conidtioning Units were leaking and dripping all over the tables, disgusting. Restaurant staff and Housekeeping staff were very helpful. Food was ok but the lack of a cup of tea with your dinner is penny pinching. Also no tea making facilities in the room you must hire a kettle from reception if you want tea at 3.70 a day!! Go up the street and there is a shopkeeper hiring kettles that guests have pre used for 1 euro a day or bring your own. Also you must hire an iron if you need one, pay for the Sauna each time you use it and pay a deposit for the remote for the TV!! This isnt a 4 star it is barely a 2 but at least if it was put up as that you would know what to expect. Dont be put off going to Malta though it is fantastic island, very friendly people, we were there in October, still very busy with tourists, still very warm, late 20s all week. Get the weekly bus ticket for 12 euro and explore all areas as it has very interesting and beautiful places to see.

Room Tip: Pick the Sea View and the 8th floor was ok, dont go near the 5th

Was a bit apprehensive after reading soon reviews just before I departed, but overall I had no complaints.
Took the advice of many reviews and booked a sea view, well worth every penny, loved watching the sunrise from my balcony ever day. Had a good sized room, bathroom tiny and a wee bit grotty but clean all the same. The room needed a lick of paint but didn't bother me.
The low point was the food, reminded me of a work canteen standard. But I only paid as small extra to go from b&b to half board so ate out few times which is cheap.
Pool lovely, worth paying one euro a day for a mattress for the lounger....staff were always polite and helpful. Good location, I'd go back to the area, different hotel next time.
Overall, not a bad hotel for the price.

Room Tip: Sea view, worth the extra

This is a good hotel for families with young children and older couples. I would not recommend it for mid teens and young adults however as there just isn't really enough to keep them occupied. I myself am 23 and went here with family only to find myself rather bored by the UK seaside town/ Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights(for those that have watched it) style entertainment. It seems as though everything might have been better five or ten years ago in Malta with many closed hotels or places in dire need of refurbishment. However, that is not to say that The Qawra Palace is a bad hotel. We moved here from the Hotel Santana due to poor food, limited all inclusive hours and, at times, poor service. The QP was much better, the food was always good and at times fantastic, there was a beef and shallot pie that will live long in my memory! They were, also, far more accommodating to my vegetarian sister's dietary needs, something which the Hotel Santana was not, do not go there if you are vegetarian! The hotel is very clean, with friendly service, although be warned, there is friend competition for sun loungers in the mornings, and i really do mean fierce in the truest sense of the word with heated arguments, at least once, a feature. So for its price, and for the section i stated it is suitable for, this is a good hotel choice.

Room Tip: Seafront rooms have a great view and are most definitely worth the extra £

My friend and I have just returned from a weeks all inclusive stay here. The good points were the towels were changed everyday and the hotels in a good position. However, we stayed in a standard room, which was the darkestroom ever. All the rooms need an update, cracked tiles in the very small bathroom, mould all over,no table on the very small balcony, the fire alarm going off all the time. There was absolutely no entertainment during the day and the evening entertainment was aimed at locals, all doing ballroom dancing or line dancing.you get a different band every evening, but they all played the same tunes!!!(nothing after 1960)Don't attempt the nightclub (only open on a Saturday!!)Its full of local men and women, all over 70,doing John Travolter moves.Thank God my friend and I have a great sense of humour!!!The food was allways hot,but the restaurant has very strict rules on where you can sit.We always had dirty tablecloths, never saw the waiters change any.If you'd like any nightlife on you're holiday,we would suggest trying St Julians bay or Silema,or the Sea Shells Hotel next door.We loved Malta, but will not be returning to the Qawra Palace .

Room Tip: Book a seaview room,as they must be lighter!!(Be warned, met a couple who had booked seaview, but did...

Hotel was terrible. Rooms were dirty and we had to wait 3 hours to get our room on arrival. Some of the reception staff were rude and would not even get my husband a drink of water. Food same boring every night. Ray the waiter was so rude and the way he spoke to some of the guests was terrible. Balconies so small. Air con leaked so could not have on kept reporting but nothing happened.

Have just returned from Qwara Palace, it was a great holiday hotel is very nice but needs a bit of T.L.C but we have been to Malta several times and the hotels are all the same, the staff were very helpful and friendly the food was very good and hot and some thing for every one infact one night some one asked if they would make an omlet and they did so you cant wish for more than that, The people who have moaned about this hotel just want some thing to moan about. the rooms were cleaned every day clean sheets 4 times in 2 weeks and clean towels every day.
yes if you dont have a sea view you are over looking a court yard so what and yes the balconeys are small but room enough to sit out if you want we will be going back again.
