I stay 12 nights at San Pawl hotel and I was not happy with a lot of things. Service were bad from start (later a little better), old people at receptions, slow, not fluent in English, not paying attention, not listening. Room was average, no towels, no TV remote control - TV didn't work, AC very poor. Pool was dirty, a lot of kids jumping in to it, making noise. Indore pool was closed, fitness center small ... Good things: cheap hotel, people were friendly, food not so bad. Will not come again definitely ...

Thank you for your comments. One general suggestion that I would desire to make is that faults (if any) are reported on the day and when they happen. Unfortunately we are now in November and your stay was in July.

Hotel lobby very impressive, staff very helpful and friendly. Room was getting a little tired,( the hotel is in the process of being updated), beds were hard and creaky,(but I slept very well) bathroom was clean with shower over the bath.Hand- basin and loo! Small balcony enough for two chairs and table. Perhaps when the hotel is re-done, they may provide a small fridge per room. we took a travel kettle, as there is none in the room, but you can hire them during your stay!
Enough of the negatives!, the food was superb, breakfast, as much as you could eat, cooked or cereal, tea, coffee juices etc. Evening meal too, if desired.
Entertainment is excellent, something for all tastes every night.
Pool is salt water, not too cold, with a toddler pool. Cleaned each morning.
Poolside bar does very good snacks and reasonable priced drinks at night!(even tea and coffee)!
All in all, it was a lovely stay, would stop again in the future.
Anybody who is in a wheelchair, they are very well cared for, ramps up/down from the front doors, into the dining room, and lifts up to your room floor, that part was brilliant.
More good parts than bad in this hotel! x

We stayed at the San Pawl for 10 nights, this hotel was clean, good pool area, breakfast was good, staff friendly, entertainment and dancing every night, we had no complaints at all, will definitely stay here again. Malta is a beautiful island and this was our 4th visit, this hotel was by far the best one we have stayed in in Malta. Great holiday!!

Room Tip: Go for a room overlooking the pool area.

Just returned back from San Pawl after a weeks stay. Arrived at hotel around 12 noon received a warm welcome and was given the key to our room 130. Now we were aware that we booked a standard room, but the room was anything but standard, substandard would be more fitting. The door facings were coming away from the walls, the bath had cigarette burns, the hairdryer hose had come away from the main unit and was covered in disgusting mould, the chair was falling apart and would have collapsed had anyone tried sitting on it. Didn't look as if the room had been cleaned as the dust was thick on top of the TV. We went back to reception to ask for another room and were told that we would have to wait until Monday (this was Saturday) until they could check availability of another room. Funnily enough when we offered to pay for an upgrade to a superior room (what we would have expected as a standard room) there was one available there and then ...... It cost us an extra 105 euros for the week, the room was acceptable but had it faults too, the bath leaked and flooded the floor every time we showered, the taps wouldn't turn off properly so heard running water al night. Would we return? To Malta - probably, to San Pawl - no.

I have just checked room 130 and I am sorry to say that I did not find any fault in it . The only cig burn there is on the bath is a minute burn caused by some careless customer who used the bath ledge as an ashtray, however the bath is still new. The option of upgrading to a superior room is an option within itself and the charge also includes extras that are included ie. free frigo bar and free A/C. I am sorry I cannot comprehend your feedback.

Just back from a week's stay at the San Pawl Hotel. After reading the reviews on here I was a little bit apprehensive and appreciated some of the comments made regarding staff and location. The hotel is set back from the main resort of Buggibba and St Pawls Bay (about 5-10 minute walk) in a residential area which makes it quieter than most other areas- although a larger movement of traffic which the front facing rooms overlook. We stayed in a balcony pool side room which was pleasant and quiter than those facing the road. Although you could here the nightly music from the pool bar area it generally finished by 11,30pm so wasn't to back. Hotel was clean and appeared to be going through some renovation, bathroom was slightly dated but generally room suited as our needs, as a place to rest after a day's sightseeing.Fresh towels and beds made each day. Air condition in room. As others have said don't pay for the WIFI as can get in local bars. Pool area was good and generally quiet, plenty of deckchairs to soak up the sun and close to bar (although pool closed at 5- not sure if the case in summer months). A lot of older couples were staying at time with very few children present, which aided the peacefulness of the hotel. Breakfast and evening meal were also good. Three main choices an evening and cooked bacon, eggs, beans and sausages in morning alongside selection of hams and cheeses. Staff were pleasant enough and I have no complaints although I appreciated some comments that some appear stand offish.

Would I stay here again- yes. I was pleasantly suprised at the hotel. If you are looking to make your hotel stay an important part of your holiday then this is not the place to stay but if like me you are just looking for a place to rest your head- then the San Pawl Hotel is highly recommended. Will try post some photos later.

Our first trip to Malta. 2 weeks half board. Room was large and plenty of storage space and clean apart from scruffy shower curtain. Plenty of towels although varied from white fluffy to grey! Maid was lovely. We had twin beds which creaked and although changed regularly the linen was old and thin. The bed covers were threadbare and pillows lumpy. Grudge having to pay 2 Euro per day for wall safe. (This is always included when we stay Far East). Same with sun bed towel- 5 Euro returnable deposit and 1 Euro to hire. If I had dried myself with this it would have taken my skin off! Television worse than useless with only 3 channels one of which was grainy picture and they also charged to hire the remote.
Food was basic and although there was a choice it was tasteless. Potatoes advertised as baked, roasted, wedges etc but were always the same, (we did have boiled twice and chips once). Only asked if we wanted wine or beer twice in whole fortnight and never tea or coffee after evening meal.
Some staff were friendly but most did not give eye contact and need lessons in customer service. One night it was like the staff were having a row. Even the manager was almost throwing the plates around it was so noisy and definitely not something guests want to be faced with.
Wi-fi also charged for whereas you could access for free at bar across the road.
Lift was extremely small max 4 persons without luggage.
We overlooked road at back which was very noisy with screeching traffic, car horns and shouting.
Would we stay again - probably not.

Room Tip: Always choose Deluxe upwards room. Superior were like rabbit hutches.

Just returned from a visit to Malta. We enjoyed the beautiful weather, fabulous scenery and good value meals and drinks. The San Pawl is well located near local bars and restaurants and just two minute walk to bus stop or ten minutes to the centre of Buggibba. Tip no one-bring a torch if you think you will be returning to hotel after dark as paths are uneven with steps jutting out and street lighting is not as good as at home.
The lobby is beautiful as mentioned before, pool area good and no problems with restaurant. We were b&b basis, always could get table and food selection was fine.
I would have to say the room was just OK, quite tatty with tears in bedclothes and curtains, really need upgrading. However was clean, water always hot, and for the amount of time we spent there and the price we paid, on balance I think we did well. Tip two- bring your own hairdryer, none provided. And you don't need electric adaptors as the sockets are the same as ours. Also no toiletries supplied except for soap.
We found Angeles on the seafront to be the best bar/restaurant around. Three course meal incl glass of wine e9.80! Good quality generous portions and free wifi! Also recommend you do the day trip to Gozo and Comino, really beautiful.
