We stayed at the Santana for a week at the beginning of November after having stayed there a couple of times before, and is still a nice, clean and relaxing hotel. The staff are very helpful and the rooms are nice. We picked a superior again as they are at the front, are very spacious and have a kettle and tea & coffee. We also had a fridge this time which was good. The only problem we had the whole time was when we ate in the restaurant at dinner.(We were on B&B basis but chose to eat in dinner in there twice). Since our last vist they seem to have decided not to have a Restaurant Manager to meet and greet people and oversee everything, and it is left to the waiting staff to do it, in between waiting etc, which led to confusion both times with our vegetarian request. Long story but the short end of it is that we missed out both times! Luckily there was a choice on the buffet anyway both nights, and the food is alway yummy. The indoor swimming pool area is lovely and I had a nice swim while my sister had a massage treatment and she couldn't recommend it highly enough! All in all a nice relaxing time and we will be back!

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Santana on a B & B basis. we read some of the earlier negative reports and were a bit apprehensive.
As soon as we arrived and met the reception staff all our negative thoughts were forgotten, they could not have been more helpful.
our room was on the 3rd floor overlooking the car park, which did not bother us as we had gone to Malta to see the island and meet the people not sit looking out of a patio window.
The dining room was busy for breakfast , but the staff were very helpful in finding us a clean table. The cooked items supplied for breakfast were plentiful and always hot , for those not wanting bacon eggs etc there were plenty of continental options available.
The hotel is in a very central area for bars, restaurants and some shops.
The bus station is very close by and you can get a bus almost anywhere, we got a day rover ticket costing 2euro 60c which allowed us to get on and off all day long, the buses are pretty good but do get busy so try to get on at the bus station and you should get a seat.

Overall we enjoyed our short break at the Santana we found nothing at all to complain about and i am sure if we did it would have been rectified pretty quick.

We shall certainly return as we enjoyed our stay.

As many of you might recall I have made some comments of this hotel before !
The reason is that I simply like it so much ! The friendly people working there, the nice athmos-
phere and the continuous feeling that they want to make your feeling nice and comfortable.
The continuous renewal of all parts of the hotel tells me they want to make it even better..
Last spring one side of the hotels , now an other side. New lifts and tread-mill in the Gym ,
My favourite (as they know !)
I have visited this hotel these past few years over ten times ( this time the whole winter !) having my own special room (I will not tell which it is... I wouldn't get it any more !!) and I'm sure to
visit again !

We stayed on B&B basis at the hotel, for nine nights, and it was excellent value for what we paid. There was lots of choice for breakfast and fresh supplies were constantly brought out. We found all the staff members that we encountered to be friendly and helpful. There is so much to do in Malta so we didn't spend much time in the hotel but our room was comfortable, quiet and we slept well. There are lots of shops, bars and restaurants near the hotel and the sea front is only a short walk away. The bus station is at the end of the road and we found Hotel Santana to be perfectly situated for exploring Malta.

I arrived back in the uk yesterday after a 2week stay at the hotel santana, and i will definitely be returning soon. The hotel is very clean and the staff are extremely polite and helpfull this is my fifth stay there in the last six years, and every time i return you allways meet someone you have met on a previous visit,so that says a lot about the hotel. As i say the hotel is very clean but some of the rooms are in the process of upgrading, but dont let that put you off the reception staff are very approachable and they will be more than happy to move you to upgraded room as one comes available. The food was very good, but do get there early as the hotel does get busy especially at weekends. All in all for the price it is very good value, and a very good hotel.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back are quietest, but the view not so good.

The Santana is a good budget hotel.
We only went on a room only basis so cannot comment on the meals apart from the 'Cream Tea' which seems good value - Tea or coffee, two scones, jam and clotted cream, however, how you spread a tea spoon of clotted cream over two scones defies understanding.
The accommodation is adequate, the room we had Room 449 is of a reasonable size. Two single beds pushed together, dressing table, fridge, TV (safe at extra cost), bedside cabinets.
Bathroom adequate with shower over bath.

Don't expect a view, the best rooms I would guess are at the front, overlooking a large car park. Room 449 was towards the back overlooking the roofs of building at the side. In fact surrounding roofs are as good as it gets.

That said although the Santana is tired, and in need of a make over, the staff are extremely helpful, and do their best to keep the rooms clean., A good value budget hotel, well placed for all amenities around Qawra. A very good restaurant within 5 minutes walk (Incognito Bar and Restaurant) see my review of this, its worth a visit.

Room Tip: Room 44p has the sun up to Mid day on the balcony, probably good in the height of summer when the af...
