“Give it a miss”
Reviewed 19 July 2009

Just stayed for a week in Canifor court apartments. The apartment was similar to a high rise council flat block with long, dark corridors with rooms leading off it. The living area had a bed in it as well as a battered leather sofa!! The kitchenette area needed a good clean as well as the utensils and cutlery. The bathroom was dark and dingy with mould all round the bath. Paint was flaking off the ceiling into the bath. The maid did come in every day and change the towels etc. We had to pay 25 euros for the air conditioning whereas friends of ours who were staying in the hotel area got it free.

The pool was disgusting and didn't appear to be cleaned at all even though there were signs around the pool saying it was cleaned every day. There were various disgusting things in the water which definitely made you not want to go in again. For the size of the hotel, the pool was tiny in comparison with sunbeds crammed together at the poolside.

The restaurant was OK. Breakfast wasn't very appetising but if you like toast with lashings of butter then you'll be fine. The evening meal was really good with a carvery most nights. The meat was excellent with different meats every night. All the meat melted in your mouth it was that tender. A couple of nights, the hotel had a barbeque and a maltese night outside which consisted of steak, sausages , chicken etc. which was really good.

If you like vibrant nightlife than St Julins resort is the place to be. The all inclusive ended at 11am and if you thought that you could then find a bar that was open late, then you are mistaken. There was an Irish bar and an Elvis bar around the corner which stopped serving about midnight and that is about it.

Nothing wrong with this hotel, you get what you pay for ! We had a cheap week away at the beginning of June. All Inclusive doesn't mean all day & night - only from 9am until 11pm. You can only have coke in a half pint glass and not a pint (you have to pay extra !). Although you can drink pints of beer for nothing ???? Rooms were cleaned every day ! Food in the restaurant was basic (my friend love it, I was slightly disappointed with the choice but it was nice food). Pool is small, great for a dip in when the sun gets too hot ! Sit on the right hand side of the sun beds (facing the pool), you get more sun during the day. Although the shade is much needed !!! Entertainment - well I'll let you experience that ! Average age in the hotel is about 70 - nothing wrong with it at all but if your after a young crowd ??? Hotel is about 2 min from the bus station - really easy to get around and very cheap. Get on a boat and see the other islands.

Stayed for 6 nights on H/B in March. Got a very good deal....room was good, clean and tidy with clean towels etc whenever you wanted. The hotel facilities were good and the staff always friendly and willing to help. Food at breakfast was good whist the evening meal was excellent. Always a good choice and the food was very tasty. My first stay at this hotel and I would without hesitation stay again. A massive thank you to the hotel for kindly posting (free of charge) my remote control for my portable dvd player back to London for me after I had left! Thats service for you! :-)

We went for a very cheap all inclusive weekend and that is what we got. The appartments were very basic ,bit of damp on the walls and all smelled a bit musty. Very dodgy lift up to the upper floors.
The hotel was full of elderly people, we are pensionable age but stll very youthful in comparison.
The food was pretty dire but plenty of it. There are nice restaurants in Mdina and Valetta so I would advise you cut your losses and eat out.(not expensive). The resort of Qawra was a bit ropey but maybe it would be better in summer.
We hired a car and it was a horrendous experience. The road signs are awful and the roads are full of potholes. Avoid driving if you possibly can!
On positive note the house wine was ok, can't think of any other positives. Oh dear!

A cheap hotel in a great location by the the beach.
Food on AI wasn't very nice, with very little choice for vegetarians, but well worth having AI for the unlimited free drinks!
Apartment was spacious, but very hot and not especially clean.
The hotel pool was filthy - I don't think it was cleaned at all during our stay. I would recommend not using it and going to the beach instead. Scum was floating on the roof terrace whirlpool.
Staff at the reception were helpful and friendly, as well as at the bar. Just the chefs were unwilling to serve much food onto plate.
Local area has lots of shops, a nice beach and bus station is nearby.
I recommend doing a boat trip to the Blue Lagoon, and avoiding the bus sightseeing tour!
