My husband and i have just returned from a week at this hotel. This was our second visit, and we shall be back!!! We had a superior room this time- great improvement on last room. Although we had a few problems, they were dealt with immediately. All the staff were welcoming and helpful at all times. Breakfast was the poorest of the meals, but there was plenty of choice for every body. Evedning meals were improved from last time and we always had plenty of choice.
The hotel is in an ideal situation-only a few minutes away ferom the bus station where you can get busses all around the island. Enjoyed the sun roof --- quiet and peaceful up there!!
Thank you, Canifor=== We shall be eback next year!!!!

Room Tip: Go for a superior room=== Kettle and tea and coffee provided with iron and ironing board-Shame this...

This is NOT a four star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. We booked a superior room which was below the standard of any two star hotel I've ever stayed in years ago. It was just adequate and included an 1950's fridge, tea and coffee making facilities and an iron and ironing board. As a superior room it was cleaned very day and new towels provided. The room had a balcony which received no sun at any time of day yet the room was hot even with the fan and air conditioning on. As the hotel apparently caters for English guests it was surprising the the satellite TV had only two English channels - CNN & Sky news while there were a number of German & Italian channels. It is ideally located so it is a shame it is not in better condition and the fact that the staff were were extremely friendly and always with a ready smile. A big contrast was between the breakfast and evening meals as we had booked half board. The breakfasts were inedible. Cardboard cornflakes, cardboard toast, uncooked eggs, uncooked sausages, fatty bacon, cold beans etc - NO FRUIT!!. I even tried going to breakfast right on opening time only to find it made no difference. We stated to go to a cafe round the corner for our breakfasts at around £3.00 with everything cooked fresh. In contrast the evening meals were very good indeed with plenty of choice although a warning should be shown when getting your plates as the sides of the containers were very hot. My wife burnt her finger and was only offered some ice!!

just back from a wonderful week at this hotel but it is not a british 4 star, but could be quite simply. unless you are extremely fussy you will not starve at this hotel, we spent a week all inclusive, and although the breakfasts are not to british standard, they were exceptable. lunch and evening dinners were enjoyable and always had a selection, as limited as it was for the coming to the end of their season. most of the staff were acceptable with several out standing exceptions, namely maitre'd charles and waitress's deborah and mandy. these people did there job with an extra plus. the rest of the staff did there job but showed little intrest in excelling for the customer. if you stay at this hotel avoid rooms *16, *17, *18 and *19. these rooms are at the junction of the 'L' and have extremely limited balcony's. we had room 118 and although the room was tidy and clean, like the whole hotel it is tired and could use an investment to bring it into the 21st century, cant remember the last time i went into a hotel that didnt have a flat screen tv( not that we used what was available)[why they would want to charge for tv i will never know]{note to canifor management. . . . spend 150 euros per room, new wall mounted tv, free mini fridge, wall mounted ironing board and iron, kettle with tea and coffee facilities and a music machine(radio/mp3 docking station) this would briing the british expectations much nearer the 4 star advertised}. with regards the pool area, its clean but small, only gets the sun for a limited time of the day but is acceptable. if you stay at this hotel stroll along the prom after dinner, its less than 5mins from the hotel and wonderfully pleasant, we had no hassle from any persons at any time along the prom, a simple ''not interested'', was sufficient for the few we did see. if you stay at this hotel we STRONGLY recommend doing the hop on - hop off island tour, bloody brilliant. we should not have left it to the last day to do the north tour and have to return to do the south tour. although not as advertised we will be returning.

Room Tip: not *16, *17,*18 or *19

Arrived early waited for room no problem. Have stayed at this hotel twice before last visit 12 months ago. Got to room on fourth floor, very small no room to move about or space for cases. It was very smelly had requested non smoking but it smelt like an ash tray. Tried to open balcony door to let in fresh air could not open it. Husband managed to get it open a bit then it wouldnt open or close. Problem with toilet didnt flush properly. In corner position never getting any sun. We requested a pool view this was on our booking but never got one instead facing pubs across the street.Requested room change told to come back next day did go back told to come back next day. Requested they fix balcony door and they said they would change the curtains ....... still waiting.

we arrived at around 9pm on 6th October 2013, no greeting , just told to fill in the necessary forms, no help with luggage to our room. could not believe you had to hire tea making facilities,
really disappointed to the changes from when we were here 8 years ago. we did get clean towels every day, was only offered bed change once for the 10 days we here. my husband had left a pair of shorts on the bed, while we where out for the day the cleaners had been in to clean the room, on our return we found that bleach had been spilt on the shorts which was quite noticeable, the manager wouldn't discus the matter, he said " we could not prove it had happened while staying at the canifor", as if you would take bleach stained clothes on holiday, angry didn't come close. I could go on and on but would not know where to stop. when we went to check out it was just, OK DONE BYE. customer service was none existence, NEEDLESS TO SAY WE WILL NOT STAY THERE AGAIN.

This is my third time staying in the Qawra/st pauls area and the third different hotel. I stay as part of a large group doing conservation work on the island twice a year.
Overall the hotel room was comfortable, although some nights were noisier than others due to the bars in the street below. Food was much the same as I've had in Maltese hotels before, average at best.
All the staff were pleasant and cheerful.
