We booked as a late booking through loveholidays.com. We got to the hotel quite late and was checked in by a Maltese version of the policeman in 'Allo Allo'. Efficiently funny and nice. We were given room 109 which was a first floor front ( looking out over the road). We dreaded the night but didn't hear a thing. Some other rooms faced the other side of an enclosed courtyard and ground pool and were too close for sitting privately. The rooms were clean but tired. The bathroom was white once but age and chronic water has taken its toll. The bedroom was fine but more 1970 than 2000. The buffet breakfast had all the normal stuff. Cereals, yogurts, bacon, eggs and things. The fruit section had peaches, grapefruit, pears and cherries but unfortunately they all came out of the same tin. Being all inclusive you could have lunch on the roof for burgers or snacks, or back down to the restaurant for a salad lunch. The evening meal was limited and a bit motorway service station than restaurant. Frozen chips and tinned peas and carrots was an every evening standard. The rest of the food was wholesome and being selective one could be satisfied. A must is the radioactive custard as it's bright yellow colour could light a room. Try and serve yourself as the chef is a bit enthusiastic and you could end up with a choice from fellow guest's selections.
Entrainment when we got there was quite good and indoors. Normally one person playing and instrument and singing. A few odd ' glows' from all the electric cigarettes but non intrusive. The summer season started so the entertainment was put on the roof so it's smoke and plastic chairs on beautiful calm evenings. We walked instead.
The area is run down but that is Malta. We always felt safe. English is spoken everywhere as a second language. The hotel is a 15 mins walk from the nightlife. Mostly eateries than sit and watch the 'world go by' bars.
I have tried to be accurate and although basic it was survivable. Taking into account the price of the holiday they did fairly well. The all-inclusive option was open to abuse by some guests which was a shame. Those who was on a half-board option seemed to sip, snack and enjoy.
Car hire is unnecessary as there are trips around the island by open top buses. Parking can be a nightmare and speed cameras can catch you out. The car hire companies have the usual add-ons but go one step further by charging £35 for fuel which you can bring back empty. This gives you 250 miles on an island that you find it hard to do 100 miles.

We stayed at this hotel 27/06/14 – 07/07/14 and was pleasantly surprised to find out how nice it was.
On arrival in reception, they were very nice and Martina even showed us to our room. Our room was 406, I had asked for a sea view. Albeit in the distance we had a lovely view. The room & bathroom was very clean and nicely decorated. Our room was cleaned every day. Very comfortable beds and we had a fridge in case you wanted to use it for drinks. Kettle, Tea & coffee in room. Air con was good, but you have to make sure the patio doors are closed firmly shut for it to work.
The pool area on the rooftop was a bit cramped, but there are plenty of loungers all around the lower level of the rooftop around the bar area. This is where we sunbathed and always found a lounger whatever time of day it was. There is also another level above the pool bit with plenty of loungers. They could do with new loungers, but they were ok. This area was hosed down every day, so it was very clean. As for the reviewer who said there was cockroaches everywhere, I can honestly say I did not see any ....
The two young chaps at the bar were very nice, (Hi Bernard !) the old fella quite grumpy. But you only have to smile and he was friendly enough. We were all inclusive, drinks were nice and large, a fairly good choice on food for snacks on the roof. Very big portions !!
The pool guy, Gregory, was always going round checking the spa and pool areas. Didn’t see him on his phone once !!
Breakfast, I don’t know how someone missed it but this was a good and varied choice. Yes there is continental, but every day we went to breakfast there was fried bread, fried eggs, scrambled eggs, omelette, sausages, bacon, beans and tomatoes. The only variation was sometimes there was either bacon or sausage. A couple of days there was both. All very nice I have to say, I don’t usually do breakfast, but it does set you up for the day. I don’t take pictures of my food, but maybe I should have so you could see the choices.
Lunch, when we did miss breakfast was ok. Salad, meat of some sort and chips or potatoes. Plenty of choice for a light snack.
Dinner, again lots of choice. Salads, cold meats, hot food, chips or potatoes. & the good thing everything is ladled so you know what you are choosing. All the staff in the restaurant were very nice and so were the chef’s. Plates were taken away quickly & the tables were clean. One night we had a chap playing the piano, very romantic
Entertainment was a bit cheesy, but you make the most of it. It was good fun.
The week did start off with quite a lot of older couples, but as it went on there was a good mix of young couples, some with children and mid range ages. All in the school parties didn’t affect us much.

One good thing we loved about this hotel was the Spa and indoor pool. They have a gym, I used once ! But when it got too hot we used the Jacuzzi and indoor pool to cool off. It was never really packed. Gregory the pool guy comes down every now and again to check all ok. You can have beauty or massage treatments, but we didn’t bother. It was nice to have the spa bit. This is why it is a 4 star hotel.
Location very good. In a quiet area but close enough to Buggiba. Bus ticket for 6.50 EUR, which lasts for 7 days. I would recommend the Hornblower Boat trip. We booked this with Stella, who is opposite the Chinese Restaurant “The Great Wall of China” (Good place to eat), next to a bar called Diana’s. She was lovely and we paid 50 EUR for trip to Comino, the Blue Lagoon and visited Gozo for a few hours. Good value.

Only downside, WIFI not very good. Apart from that on the whole, this was a good hotel and I would highly recommend it and would defiantly return.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view.

We arrived on Holiday in Malta at our selected hotel which we had researched on Tripadvisor after booking through easyjet, On arrival our transfer went without a hitch to the hotel, after getting our keys we made our way to our rooms , which were of a good standard, In the morning we made our way to breakfast which was not a good experience after finding a table we went to the hotplate to get out food lined up was a election of continental and european food which was tasteless and over cooked, with even the yogurt being warm on a number of occasions that evening were were in the roof bar where a number of cockroaches were seen running around the floor, The younger members of the bar staff had good communication skills and made you feel welcome however the Older guy seemed miserable all the time,

We were not aware prior to booking that the Hotel catered for large school and college parties or we would not have booked as they ran around the lifts on a number of occasions after being chased by the security. On a number of occasions large private functions were run alongside the hotel experience and on one occasion the tourist were moved around to accommodate them there is on pool attendant at the roof pool to stop kids running and diving into the pool when there was someone in attendance he spent his time on his phone.

number of guests were very unhappy at being placed across the road at the hotel overspill accommodation.

On our last day were had to be out of our rooms by 10.30am or book for a cost of 30 Euros also the all inclusive stopped at 1pm , All inclusive should be until you depart the hotel which in our case was at 7 pm,

we were picked for our transfer to the airport by what can only be described as an unroadworthy wreck of a people carrier a 12 seater with 11 people squashed into it with the cases packed in the back and if he had to do an emergency stop a number of people would have been decapitated by the luggage taking their heads off all togeather a bad experience in Malta.

Room Tip: Make sure you get the room you ask for

We stayed for our one year anniversary at the end of may/beginning of june for 2 weeks. My husband, our 11 year old son and I stayed here just over a year ago whilst planning our wedding on the island. This time we were put in a totally different building, down the road. It was above the 2 cherries pub on the 3rd floor, with no lift, 6 months pregnant and up and down for breakfast, lunch, dinner, pool, toilet etc etc etc. It was rather disappointing. Sharon in the dining room is so lovely and you notice a different when she is having a day off. The food is average but you get what you pay for. We stayed at the Dolmen last year for our wedding and apparently this is the same star basis.. It most certainly is NOT! The hotel is average, nothing seems to be done when you complain and the Pool area is very small and the beds are taken by towels from 7am until they have finished their breakfast at around 10am. The staff shrug their shoulders when you ask if beds are allowed to be reserved, I took it in to my own hands and put the towels to one side after being fed up of standing around whilst empty beds with towels were there all day. The hotel has great links to other places on the island. The bus terminal is just a short walk through the back streets but we always hire a car as it is much easier to get around. We have decided to rent a private apartment next year for the summer as we felt like we had done this anyway being totally segregated from the hotel. Good points- Cleaners work very hard and room was always freshly made. The bar area upstairs is quite nice and the food is fairly cheap (see bad points). The dining room is managed fairly well. It is malta and a 4 star is not what you would expect if you frequent more expensive countires so please do your research. Bad points- Staff seem disinterested when you need something or have a complaint. The bar upstairs is cheap BUT the food reflects the price! Frozen deep fried. Not great. You could be palmed off to an apartment when you have paid for a hotel and feel like an outsider trying to use their facilities. Overall this hotel is only OK and if you are looking for a holiday on a budget then look no further, but please be aware that is it NOT a 4 star. If you do go out of the evening, try Piccolo Padre in St julians for an evening meal. Beautiful food, views and fab staff. For lunch, the tal pjazza in bugibba square is very reasonable and the pizza is fantastic! The mermaid cruise to Comino is very friendly and quaint. The same 2 guys have been doing the trips since I was a little girl and they are great fun. Have a great trip wherever you choose.

Very clean hotel throughout. Very friendly staff. Pools is lovely. Wifi is okay but available only around reception and the lobby! Comfortable bed and good air conditioning! Good food. Shops and restaurants are not too far away to walk to. If you have time you should definitely go on the 'Malta funtrain' as you get a lovely tour around Buggiba with free wifi on board and excellent sound speakers with descriptions of the places around Buggiba.

We stayed here in March for a week. The Receptionist was quite arrogant and had a smart unpleasant tone eg when we were too quick to move away from Reception he passed remark if we knew the area better than him or something? More similar attitude when checking out. The rep did not confirm our pick up time so we arrived down to Reception ahead of time (better early for a flight!) which was commented on which again I didn't feel was appropriate.

The food in the hotel was very good, with coeliac disease I always had my glutenfree bread and this was no issue.

We enjoyed using the indoor pool and jacuzzi (as it rained for the week). We did an excursion to the market on the Sunday, boat trip and racing however the racing had to be cancelled as the rain bucketed down. The market was sheer rubbish, nothing but cheap rubbishy stuff being sold. The boat trip included a meal however the food was very poor quality. The rep mentioned in the bus she was going to refund the horse racing however we did not received refund and this should have been taken care of. This trip is to be avoided at all costs.

Noise isolation is not great in the hotel, we were kept awake until 2am by a group of students partying on the 1st night however once we informed Security this was quickly addressed.

The hotel itself is dated and the photos are a little deceptive, it would be more suited to retired people. We felt we were in a retirement home particularly in the bar etc. walking past each evening also, the hotel is a bit away from everything else, the main strip but easily fixed with cheap bus services but again you need to walk to get the bus.

Clean, good sized room (we stayed in a double room at the front of the hotel on the advice of other reviews here, glad we asked for it)

Lovely rooftop pool, always loungers available (some large groups of teenagers arrived on different days, not conducive to a relaxing time by the pool but this wasn't a major problem).

Pot luck as to whether there was a pleasant or surly receptionist on duty (the pleasant ones were absolutely lovely, but the surly ones came across as terribly unfriendly).

A good selection for the self-service breakfast, food regularly replenished (we were B&B, glad we weren't all inclusive as we got to experience the fabulous local restaurants).

The speed of service at the rooftop bar varied drastically depending on which barman served you.

Fantastic air conditioning - perfect for our room but friends had a larger room where the a/c wasn't great (make sure the balcony doors are fully closed at both sides, otherewise the a/c won't work - we had this problem as one door was open a crack for the first night without us realising).

The two lifts to our room and the pool were great- easy mobility inside the hotel but some steps at the entrance to the hotel.

The hotel is in a very quiet area, so apart from the nightly entertainment on the rooftop bar which ended at 11pm, there wasn't any street noise.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. Not quite a 4 star compared to Ireland but a very good 3 star. Would definitely recommend to all types of travellers.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front get sunshine from the morning to mid afternoon. Not a fantastic view (looking out...
