Although i was a "solo" traveller have friends who live nearby so not entirely true BUT..

2nd time of staying and i really cannot fault the Hotel OR the area....just love it there!

But only small things that i found were of a slight annoyance..

- Beds in rooms...wooden frame on a marble floor...not great as my bed kept drifting away from the head board = me pillows falling down the back of the bed! Perhaps rubber stoppers at the end of the beds legs would be graet?

- "Guarding the meat" in the restaurant.....has been mentioned but by an earlier poster but come on Soreda...."please Sir,can i have some more Malteses Rabbit" is a bit of a no-no when your all inclusive

- Strange but my last 2 days there were loads of flies on the roof....maybe a temporary thing

But all in all the roof top is the place to be...Simon,Claude and chums do a great job...beer always cold...friendly service plus a decent burger and chips between 12-3!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

1st room was damp with mouldy pillows. 2nd room was across the road with no aircon! 3rd room - smelly. We went self catering and after first week the cleaning staff took away our pans!! - they said we were room only so couldnt have any.
The hotel is not 4* by any stretch of the imagination - the games room is very run down, the ground floor pool is ok but the rooftop was crowded - as it is small it does not take a lot of people to fill it! The balcony lights are controlled 'in house' so you cant sit out after about 11pm as it is dark!!- that is providing they remember to turn them on at all.
Has gym but they charge EUR 7 per day and you have to be over 18 to use it.
The only redeeming feature of this hotel was that the staff, except management, were friendly and polite.
The area of Qawra is quiet but easy to get on a bus to explore the island (no need to hire a car).

Have just returned from a nine night stay, and I can't find any reason to criticise this hotel. The staff were helpful, friendly, and polite. Tthe room was comfortable and clean. Clean towels every day and bed linen changed regularly. The food may not be Cordon Bleu, but it was appetisingand plentiful. If people wish to criticise this hotel as not being 4 Star, remember you are in Malta. the entertainment was better than any other I've known in Maltese Hotel, and theb bar staff were outstanding. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will definately return.

First time in Malta at the Soreda, then you may find this review helpful.

I’ve just returned with a family member from a 10 night stay at the Soreda Hotel in Qawra, Malta. Due to us arriving late on the Thursday night, the room which we had booked was not available until the following morning. However, this was not an issue for us, as the hotel allocated us room 503 which is a slightly smaller but it was fine as they moved us to our allocated room the next morning.

I wouldn’t take too much notice of the previous complaints that other reviewers have posted on Trip advisor. The staff at the Soreda are friendly and will go out of their way to help you and the reception is open 24 hrs, if you need assistance. After our night in 503 we were then transferred to 105 for 10 nights which for us was spacious with a balcony and clean. The room comes with a safe, but we found that we didn’t need to rent one, as we felt safe and comfortable leaving our valuables locked in our luggage.

The maid service comes early every morning, so if you don’t want them coming so early in the morning just put the DO NOT DISTURB sign out and they will come back later. The maids do a really good job and always leave you with a set of fresh towels.

As we were half board I only ate breakfast at the Soreda but from what I saw the hotel offers a good selection of English and Continental breakfast and fruit. And, after speaking to a few other guests about the evening meal, it sounds as if it is carvary based with a beef, lamb, and pork and fish selection. I did try a Greek salad from the pool restaurant but it wasn’t very nice, but I’m sure the other food on offer will suffice those who going all inclusive. They do the usual burgers, chips, salads and sandwiches which people may find appetising. I hope to visit Malta again next year and would be happy to use the Soreda Hotel again.

Food

If you want to venture out and try food from some where else then here are a few suggestions below.

The Two Cherries – Just in the next street from the hotel - They do a mean steak sandwich at 3 Euros and a good selection of Pasta and other food.

Churchill’s restaurant - This is situated just across the road from the big Santana Hotel and set off from the main street. The food is well cooked and it’s a nice quiet place to eat if you want enjoy good food. For those who miss the home from home there are plenty of places in the surrounding vicinity called Goodfella’s, Kenny’s bar, Alex’s bar, Incognito and the Red Lion to fill your boots with tradional English beer, food and conversation about the weather.

We also needed to get our fix of Chinese food and ate at the Peking Cuisine restaurant, situated round the corner from crepe restaurant. All the above were little gems that we found whilst staying in Qawra.

Transport

The best way to see Malta is by getting a map/guide and locating the Buggiba and Qawra bus station. If you ask at the hotel reception they will be able to tell you where the bus terminus is situated. It’s about a 10 minute walk from the hotel and once you’ve find the bus station there are buses that will take you to any where in Malta.

You can catch buses to the Capital Valletta, St Julian’s, Paceville, Gozo, and the three Islands. I would suggest purchasing a group of tickets for however long you are staying in Malta, so you can then just hop off and on the buses, without worrying about change. This will save you a lot of money in the long run! – Also be warned some of the drivers imagine that they are Lewis Hamilton, so try not to be so shocked if this is your first time on Maltese transport.

Paceville

Is the party town of Malta and believe me it lives up to its name if you are a student, young and love getting drunk. It’s a part of Malta which looks better by the day, if you are with the family and if you can hack the Friday and Saturday night trauma of young people being ill then this is the place for you at night. Although we did manage to find a safe heaven for those people who like a bit of sophistication and style. The Scarlet Lounge which is situated opposite the Escape bar is a really nice place to dive into for dining and some late night house music.

Enjoy you visit.

Third time staying at the lovely Soreda Hotel. As always, the staff were very welcoming and remembered my two kids names. Our hotel room was really spaceous, clean and perfect for our needs. The cleanliness of the hotel, as always, was to a very high standard - everything from the rooms, public areas, swiming pools to all the amenities. The food was to a very hight standard, having two children who are fussy eaters, it was perfect as there was something for everyone. The huge variety of food choices was excellent and i dont think i ate the same thing twice in my two weeks stay. Soreda is a 4 star hotel and i strongly agree, both my children are asking when we are going back. I heard alot of people moan about the hotel, but i honestly cannot agree with them - you get what you pay for and the Soreda Hotel, as always, was perfect for my family holiday. Every year my family has returned to the Soreda Hotel as the staff are fantastic, welcoming, polite, very acommodating and really hard workers. Cannot wait to go back next year - strongly recomend the Soreda for all family types.
