If you want tasty snacks that don't cost too much visit Lino Tanti Kiosk. The food and service are very good. We had a toasted Maltese ftira, packed with Tuna , a Ham and cheese baguette both served with salad and crisps and 500 ml can of beer and a mug of tea. The price? €5-80 for it all. Great value for money and good food too.

Thank Sheila A

Their is no where in the world where you can get a great life style, with good food and honest fun loving friendly people, than in Malta. This is reflected in their ever day life and work and their interaction with people, whether you are a native of the island or a tourist. This ethos is naturally extended to the majority of restaurant owners who enjoy their chosen career and who also immensely enjoy making people happy as when you eat in a Maltese restaurant whether it be a kiosk by the bahar (sea) or at a five star hotel the owners, staff and persons patronising the establishment make it a priority to make their guest or friend happy and content. Simply they put people before profits and they work hard at making their business successful by making the customer happy and providing an establishment to cater to every taste and budget. Lino Tanti at Ta Fra Ben, Qawra is typical of many kiosk type restaurants that you will find in Malta. Tanti's offers a large menu, covering many food types and tastes. The location is superb, their prices excellent and the food is better than what you would think for the money you outlay. The food is not succulent cuts of meat or whole fish. It is a nicely prepared fresh menu from a variety sources whether fresh meats, chicken, fish or deli supplied cuts and the freshest salads. It is similar what you would prepare at home but more abundant in size and prepared with a bit more imagination. There is no meal or food item offered that would displease anyone, in fact there are so much tasty varieties and combinations it cannot be fairly mentioned or described here. The seating is not plush but the view is worth millions. The service is not overly fussy but it is honest, friendly and cheerful. The food is not extravagant but it is fresh and good, especially the salads and the local Maltese dishes and desserts. Really, you cannot go wrong with any food choice or seating position as who ever you may end up seating near it will turn out a great experience just listening, watching and enjoying the atmosphere.

We revisited the Tanti Kiosk this month. The food is as good as before and very inexpensive. A large cappuccino or a 500 ml beer for only 1euro. We both had drinks, pasta and dessert and it came to less that 18 euros for a night out !!
The kiosk is mainly used by the Maltese people but just go and join them. They love to have a chat with you and you find out more about Malta from them. We always look at where the Maltese eat as they usually demand good food, service and value for money

This is the kiosk near 'ta Fra Ben, on Qawra sea front. There are 3 small cafe type places, this is the middle one on the pavement
The food and drinks are so good and so cheap it would be a shame to miss it
They are best for 'snack' type foods but look at the portion sizes of other peoples before you decide what to eat. The salads are HUGE and only about 4 euros
During the winter they open 9.30am till about 5.30
During the summer they stay open late into the night

We visited Lino Tanti shortly after it had opened in July 2012 and as in previous years we had used the tanti further down the road in Bugibba we found the service good as was the food and desserts served, The main problem with the new location is that it is in a sun trap and in the middle of the day when you need to get out of the sun to cool down the sun's heat is reflected back at you off the wall at the rear of the restaurant. Lee has provided large fans which are not very effective due to the intense heat reflected back from the 15 foot wall but they do make it bearable. On the downside this place is best left to the locals who visit the coast at the weekends as it becomes very busy and you may have to wait for a table, but we also found that we no longer seemed welcome at this busy time so we did not go back on our second week. The other kiosk between qawra and Bugibba was slightly more expensive but always gave us a welcome and had a fresh sea breeze is a better place to dine during the heat of the midday sun and at the weekends.
