“Great value, good location and friendly staff.”
Reviewed 21 May 2011

Just got back (today) from two weeks at Cardor. We were self catering and really only used the room and balcony. We overlooked Murphy's Irish Pub (though didn't go in it because the Knickerbocker Cafe just up the road was just too good) very little noise. Sun first thing and then late afternoon until 19:30. View of the sea in two directions. Looked a bit run down to start with (but the whole area does) but all in all in was just what we wanted. Room was cleaned daily - beds made and towels/sheets changed from time to time. No complaints and we will return.

after reading so many negative reports my girlfriend and myself were dreading what we let ourselves in for.the apartments were very old fashioned but very clean and were cleaned daily.the location was great, close to the bus station and to the sea front.plenty of bars and resturants at very cheap prices.would go back but maybe in summer months as the watersports and waterpark werent open yet..overall holiday very good and maltese people were very friendly.this complex is ideal for a low budget holiday

On arrival we were given the keys to someone elses room... Not a great start. We were then put in a horrible dark room with only one window like a cave so the next day we asked to move and were put in the nicer 505. The rooms all smell like smoke and it was cold with only a very thin blanket on the bed and threadbare sheets. We were only there in the evening but you wouldn't want to lie around there all day. Maria the housekeeper was so lovely and friendly. Don't est at the canifor as there are so many lovely restaurants nearby and cheaper.

We arrived at 12.30ish at night. Reception lax,we had to wait for someone to show us the way! And it was via the Canifor hotel. We had booked the Cardor(3*!), but all meals were in this allegedly 4* hotel. In 20 years of going to Malta this was the worst food I had ever had! Upset my stomach every day....The apartments were awful. We changed them after 3 days. Slightly better. But the electrics were 19th century....and the place wasnt here 20 years ago! As for the cooker....never seen such a poor speciman in allmy life. So many things were missing. The best was the cooker hood, with a couple of feet of lead with a two point plug...and nowhere to put it. One plug for the iron,kettle,"cooker"...awful. Just dont go to this or the Canifor....

I have been to 3* apartments here in Qawra and Bugibba and been happy....but the only redeeming feature of this second 5th floorflat was the balcony and the view. And flat 101 was as its name suggests! My friend nearly scalded herself every time she had a shower.

been to malta many times this is BEST hotel we av stopped in. Apts spotless. Food excellent
Customers returning for last 15 yrs cant all be wrong. Value for money £300 for 1 mth half board in my eyes is excellent value. We are returning for 3mths next year. Due to reviews on these apts we were dreading going im glad we stuck with our choice and urge people to try it. We were a mixed party ages 41 to 64yrs old. Once you get maltas rating system 4star is usually a 3star here. So dont go if you want 4star but if you want good clean and friendly then give it a go. a Lancashire Lass

The staff watched us (2 elderly pensioners) struggle up the steep steps with our cases. So much for warm welcome. Were given keys to flat (a long walk on our own with no help with cases) and on opening the door found it very cold, lacking sockets and there was very bad mold in the kitchen cupboard - it stank, We were told we would be shown what was available the next day.. There was only one heater to warm the entire flat. We could not find a socket in the bedroom - found after behind the dressing table. We were shaking with the cold and slept with coats on. TV was placed high up on a shelf and made most uncomfortable viewing. Only a couple English news channels.

Next day we were shown a flat half the size, then another with more sockets. We were still cold and asked for another heater. We were told we would have to pay to have warm air on. I can find no reference either in their literature or anywhere saying this is extra - the cooler is extra but we didnt want cooling. There are no rugs on the tiled floor. The cooking facilities are hopeless - you could either have the two rings on or the oven. It is a safety hazard in that that electric sockets are immediately above the stove and under the extractor hood. The fire extinguisher had not been checked within the six months prescribed on the applicance. No way could anyone cook a decent meal without it taking all day to cook. There are no drying facilties in the flat. Any lines and pegs left by previous occupants are removed by the maids and were not obtainable from the housekeeper. As we had to buy these again we deducted the money from the maids tip! The sofa was a cold black mock leather.

The food in the restaurant was very poorly cooked and repetitive. The restaurant was crowded and self service - certainly not a relaxing experience. There idea of desserts is just a pile of gateau with the occasional jelly. The flat dried out fried eggs were horrible.

Good point - no bingo! Hotel is very handy for bus station.

The waiting staff were very good at clearing places but getting drinks with a meal was a long wait.
