I stayed in the Cardor Apartments with my Boyfriend and my 6 yr old son. when we arived at 9pm at the night we had to check in with the attached hotel Conifor. The staff was so nice and helpful but then was never gave them reason not to be.

I had read all the reviews on the tripadvisor after booking this holiday to Malta and i was very disheartened as to what or stay was going to be like. Yer the pool area was small and only got the sun from 6am till 3pm but closed at 6pm anyway. There was a lovely pool at the Qwara hotel on the sea front that we could have used if we wanted to but we just didn't get chance to use any of the hotel pool including the Cardors.

Our 1 bed appartment was clean and cool. the shower leaked a little but we didn't let this bother us. The appartment was cleaned every day by a maid and fresh towels was left daily. All the staff were very helpful.

We stayed half board, we ate a really nice but basic breakfast, selection of sausage, liver, beans, toast, juices, tea, coffee, yoguat, fruit, and cerials. Then we would venture out to see the beautiful sites of Malta. The busses are a few euros and take you all over the island, we did boat trips and bus trips and visited the water park twice it was so lovel to relaxe and was very quiet at this time of year. Then we would go back to the hotel for about 6ish to shower, change and have dinner for about 9ish. Dinner there was a lovely selection of foods, hot and cold menu, we couldn't complain about the food or the waiters at all, all where so helpful and very fond of my son. After dinner we would go out to the local pubs, the irish bar across the road was great, or get the bus into St Pauls or we would stay in the hotel bar depending on how tired we was, but the entertainment wasn't great, but we didn't mind, we were glad of the relax.

Please dont be put off by some of these reviews, the Hotel isn't everyones taste. We wanted a last min cheap holiday to Malta and that is what we got, if you want the Ritz then book the Ritz. We had a fantastic holiday, jam packed full of entertainment and adventures, the weather was better the fantastic, the whole holiday was amazing.

Day 1- Bus trip round the Island, was fantastic with free boat trip at st Jullians round the harbours. St Jullians is the place to shop, loads of shops and sales.
Day 2- Bus to Water Park, what a tan we got laid out all day, on the slides and in the massive pool. Went to the Irish bar at the night.
Day 3 - Bus to Market in Birkirkara then visited the Mosta Dome, amazing.
Day 4 - My partner bought a fishing road for 15euro from a shop in St Pauls and we took a picnic to the rocks and fished nearly all day, you can fish and keep, and no licence is needed and you can swim anywhere you like off the rocks, there are jetties and ladders to help you in. Then went into St Pauls for drinks on the night.
Day 5 - Bus to Beach in Mellieha Bay, lovely, again took a picnic and a few beers and played all day, my son loved it.
Day 6 - Boat trip to Blue Lagoon and grotto. WOW thats all im saying. ok AMAZING.
Day 7 - Last day flight at 9pm we went to Valletta, so beautiful, went to the Market bought a few bits, very cheap and then went for a walk round the place. Took far to many pictures as it was so beautiful.

I hope this has helped. We will be going back and staying there again as we didn't have time to see all the beautiful sights of Malta, we went for a week and could have done with 2 thats the only bad point. Defo stay here, if you are, down to earth and like to travel, with a friendly approach and really not bothered about sitting by the pool all day ((((((((((((((BORING))))))))))))) then book it, you'll love it.

Cardor/Canifor Apts - totally frank...
READ THIS REVIEW from honest English couple.
Upon arrival - we arrived just after mid day on 25th august 2010. We were dropped off outside the canifor hotel. The receptionist at canifor gave us vague instructions on how to access the cardor complex. Eventually found after walking across pool area. Here we stood for over half an hour waiting for a receptionist. After 40 minutes and 3 more trips to the canifor reception a woman finally arrived. To tell us we couldn't check in until 2pm! We felt as if the first day of our holiday was being wasted. So understandably frustration levels were high! The empty reception was a regular occurrence, there may as well have not been one at cardor. The poor woman on reception was also chief chambermaid and was obviously struggling with all the responsibilities. I addressed this with the hotel manager at canifor after one particularly long wait for a safe key. But he was ignorant to any problems we had.
Rooms - the rooms were ok, quite spacious with all what's required. Bed sheets arnt changed daily but beds are made and towels are changed. On arrival we had a dirty towel in the bathroom but this was the first and only time this happened. No cockroaches, never saw even one on our whole trip! Air conditioning, this was an absolute god send. But found out later it is chargeable of 40 euros per week! Nobody told us this. All plugs are English which was very convenient. The bathroom was probably the worst part of it, the shower only trickled out so was a bit tricky getting all the nooks and cranny's! But tolerable. Get this.. The plug hole in the bath was relatively bigger than the plug, so much so that the bath water emptied slowly so you have to be quick when bathing! The amenities came in handy such as fridge etc as we were only half board.
Food - the food was up and down, but most importantly it was edible and you could easily fill up on it to save you some money, even if some days it was a little bland. The waiters/waitresses were very helpful.
Pool - the pool was disappointing, it was rather congested and unless you were in certain spots you only had sun for a limited part of the day due to it being enclosed by the hotel and perimeter wall. It was a salt water pool, which wasn't great and the general pool area maintenance was poor, ie litter etc.
Location - this is a great base if you are in Malta to explore the island, the bus station is a 2 minute walk from the hotel. From here you can visit any part of the island you wish including Mdina & Valetta which I would definately recommend. The bus fares are so cheap, don't book the sightseeing tours. Just go yourself and save a bucket full of money. There a few nice bars only a few minutes walk, Diana's in particular was a really friendly place to drink and eat. Buggiba square is about a 10 minute walk away with many different bars and restaurants including a mcdonalds close by for people like me who can't resist a good burger!
Summary - overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definately return to Malta, but wouldn't come back to either the cardor apartments nor the canifor hotel. Simply due to the fact in future we would rather pay that little extra for a much nicer hotel with much better service. Disabled people and people with young children should also avoid these hotels as there is no access for prams or wheelchairs and the only way in/out is up or down steps! As stated if you are coming to Malta to travel around and explore, then this cheap hotel would be fine for you. Being all inclusive here is a huge waste of money. Just go self catering or bed & breakfast at a push. Pay a little more and stay somewhere like the Dolmen, the San Antonio or the Qawra Palace for all inclusive, these are much nicer places and worth paying for if you are in Malta to lounge around the pool & eat & drink to your hearts content! Feel free to e-mail me with anymore questions...

Great location as a base to travel around the lovely coves, beaches and historical sites that Malta has to offer but the best I can say about the hotel is that it provided good sugar puffs for breakfast!
The hotel service is poor, food is disgusting and cleanliness is not acceptable. Go to Malta but avoid this place.
Yes the hotel is cheap so this is not naive in expecting the earth for no money but if you are planning on spending time in the hotel (lounging by the pool, reading your book rather than exploring all day) then don't go here.

not bad for the money, BUT, its chaos, right hand doeasnt know what left hand doing. We were given a put-up bed in our room for my 28yr old daughter & my sister & family were taken to the coral hotel in buggibba on arrival. I have to say it was all sorted BUT do you really need that hassle at the beginning of a holiday, NO. The treck through the Canifor pool area instead of using the Cardor entrance is a nightmare, dont know why we weren't given keys to Tourist Street although that could be open to abuse as there is no 24hr reception. On a good note the housekeeper Jessie and cleaner Miriam are extremely helpful they bend over backwards to put things right without them it would have been a disaster.

We arrived at this Hotel at 9pm on Saturday night, booked in at reception then we were told to go down to -1 in lift across pool area to lift and go up to 2. When we arrived at our room it was a kitchen area with a sofa which was filthy, table and 2 chairs fridge and a cooker. The Bedroom had 2 single Beds with a window which looked on to another building with pipes. There was no daylight getting into the room and no air. I went back down to the reception and asked to be moved as we had booked a room with a pool view, the man there said we would have to come back in the morning to see the lady who deals with the rooms. We didn't even unpack went back in the morning and she told us there was nothing else available she couldn't have cared less. Our Rep Joseph came to see us the next day and we told him we were not happy with our room, he went to see the Manager and within 5mins we were transfered to the Coral Hotel and upgraded to half board. The Coral hotel was excellent room was lovely staff were great and the food was good this hotel was definately 4 star.
