“FINE FOR THE PRICE”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 November 2013

We where booked into the Blue Sea San Anton, which is facing this hotel - part of the one complex; but we where sent here. This proved to be a good thing as this hotel was quieter, the San Anton had loud music and partying each night until late.
This hotel was more than adequate for our week long stay, we went all inclusive for very little extra cost (£34 for two), but usually chose to eat out in the evenings.
It was very hot, not a sign of a breeze for five days; even with three fans going the temperature in the room never fell below 30deg at night; Phew!
Breakfast was adequate self serve type, a mixture of healthy and not so healthy options. We where annoyed on one morning as the dinning manager would not let us in five minutes early to grab a quick sandwhich before going on a day trip!
In the evenings you go across the road to the San Anton for your meal. The food here was okay, but as other reviewers have said it lacked variety; the indoor dinning area was horrendously hot as windows and doors seemed to be kept closed and the aircon was not being used;- a good way to keep people from sitting too long!
You can rent a wall safe for about 20eu. Fans can be rented too - but there seemed to be a shortage.
The hotel location meant a 15 - 20 minute walk to the sea front - it was however near to one of the stops for the island tour buses - very handy.
The staff here where mostly friendly. The room was cleaned each day, which was more than we had expected.
To conclude; this hotel did the job as a good base for holidaying in lovely Malta, if you want aircon and luxury then expect to pay a lot more.

after reading reviews on this hotel i must say i was dreading it, we had a weeks AI beginning of september. we have been to malta 5 times and have stayed at different parts of malta. this hotel wasnt as bad as it was made out to be, our room was plenty big enough and bed had ew mattresses, the bathroom had silicone on everything where they had botched jobs , but this made no difference to us, as we only use the rooms for washing changing and sleeping. our room was cleaned every day and sheets and towels were changed every other day. food was ok there were 3 or 4 dishes to choose from on a dinner and tea time but it did get very repetitive and i got fed up of the food towards the end of the week, snacks were only bread rolls, ham and cheese, drink there was plenty to choose from so no problems there. i think considering that this hotel only opened a few moths back after being closed for years ,is trying to get it up to standard hopefully it will get there , certainly cold do with air con and new furniture. staff were friendly. all in all i go on holiday to enjoy the country and sun i do not want to be stuck in a hotel room so for what i paid which was 285 each AI i was extremely happy, if you want super posh in malta then your gonna pay for it this hotel is normal for malta

Me and my wife just spent ten days all inc. No problem with the hotel, but what they class as food, they should be done under the trade description act.Cold, meat raw, repetitive, We spent most of the time eating out. Go self catering by all means but the restaurant !! No Way
Bar service not to bad, no A/C the fans are noisy , and the cleaners go AWOL .spend a bit more and find something better

The bar service was good, Rooms adequate size but need little bits of work done to them. In my room I had to have the shower hung as it was just wrapped round taps and there was a little hole in ceiling. No hangers in wardrobe to hang your clothes. No TV in room or unable to use tv room in hotel. One night the fire alarm was set off and we were unable to get out of fire gate as it was locked. Only entertainment was Bingo, Karaoke and a quiz night. Food in restaurant was very bland. Staff were very polite. Weather was lovely so you could get out and about. When you wanted to see football you had to go to local bar and pay for drinks as not on in hotel bar.
We also had a lot of russian children running around and they irritated a lot of people especially when one of them had a birthday and put condoms near the sign instead of balloons which I had to speak to hotel staff to remove.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel

ROOMS ,are of a decent size with brand new beds , linin and curtains , they have a fan above the beds which was a god send during the night as its so warm and humid, bathroom had shower and bath , be careful of the hot water though , its is hotter than hot . we had 3 hangers in the wardrobes and had to ask for more , at night and day flies made sitting on balcony a nightmare.
MEALS - a lot if not all food is cooked offsite by outside caterers , if you like a choice of meats and veg and into Sundays dinners then you'll like it , breakfast was poor cheap cuts of fatty bacon, scrambled egg, CHIPS !!!,beans , toast, cornflakes that were made of cardboard . nothing for kids except maybe undercooked pizza and chips , we didn't starve but eating was hard work , the soups and bread buns did me for some meals.
POOL AREA - could of been kept cleaner , but it was not too bad , pool has no shallow end so parents be warned , its 6' and 5 ' deep , other than that is steps at one end to get out . pool was clean and a pleasure to swim in .
Jacuzzi got a bit minging as the day went on , what with sun lotions and make up etc. . but was cleaned every night .
sunbeds were fairly new and comfortable.
ENTERTAINMENT - BINGO - KIDDIES DISCO,KAREOKE,MUSIC QUIZ,MEN V WOMEN etc ..
all inclusive drinks were good value if you like a drink and id advise to get most of your money back by using the bar/drinks method, shame they came in plastic beakers even at night most times which was not welcomed either.

A lot of Russians were there on our visit most of them children , which turned the hotel into an anything goes scenario .

ok for a cheap getaway and a tan with time to relax with the family , and meet new people .

new Spanish owners now so I heard , so maybe they will improve it ???

we wont go back to this hotel or Malta .

Room Tip: possibly ask for a poolside view .
