Beautiful beaches, nice little village with a touch of wilderness.
Maybe it could do with one good restaurant but otherwise I highly recommend.
Try getting the terrace room from Pequena Baleia to have the complete experience!

Perfect for the whole family, beautiful beaches, a few beach side cafes, restaurants and surf/SUP hire places. Plenty of surf lodge accommodation, nearby campsites in Peniche and a few hotels between Baleal and Peniche. If you are in a campervan, you may get away with wild camping in the Baleal car park in low season. Beware weekends as it gets very busy and the local bar can be noisy. Very safe to learn to surf but also provides some challenging surf conditions for the more experienced. With the infamous Supertubes down the road south of Peniche (5 min drive or 20 min cycle) this location has it all for surf lovers!!

We traveled to Portugal and visited Baleal, Portugal which is referred to as the surf capital of Europe, some say the world. The beach is one of the most beautiful in the world with beautiful clean sand as far as you can see. It is the place to go to go to the beach!!! The area is small, there are small very simple houses and apartments to rent, and only a few restaurants. I am not a surfer but loved walking around and sitting on the beach There is an area that is beautiful to hike to. It is a rock that rises out of the ocean and you can walk on it. There is a beautiful white church on the rock.. This is worth the visit itself. Baleal is just a few minutes from most resorts, bigger towns, and about 45 minutes from Lisbon. Worth the visit.

Baleal is the place to go in Europe. The beach is amazing and the athmosphere is more relaxed than anywhere else.
