“Love this place!”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

My son, Will, who has stayed here 3 times, recommended this place and so we reserved a cabin there on our way from Santa Fe to Sacramento. The cabin was very comfortable and the owners were SO pleasant - it made the stay much more personal and delightful than other motels. The delicious breakfast was a communal affair with several of the other guests. There is also a lending library there that we utilized. We will definitely return and recommend it to others traveling along Hwy 395.

On my 353 mile walking trek to June Lake I needed a place to ease my bones and found the hotel on-line as highly recommended. It was a very comfortable place and the room was very clean. Wanted to soak in a hot tub after being on the road for so many days, but it took almost ten minutes to fill the tub. That was my only real complaint. No breakfast that time of year though. Too bad! It is a place where you might find some other real adventurers that use the motel as a base, as I meet a man from New Zealand that was hiking and skiing from the Whitney area to the peaks at Mammoth. I felt like I was in good company there. Nice people that run the place. I'd stop there again.

Sorry for the delayed review. Why so late? We are making plans to return in September again! We stayed for two nights in late September 2013, coming out after 65 miles southbound. We just walked in and were welcomed by Dough & Strider. Great facilities: 2nd Queen bed covered to spread out our gear; hung things outside. They just acquired the place and have committed their lives to making us comfortable and supporting hikers and the JMT. Strider has done the whole JMT several times. Drove us into Lone Pine; implored us to visit the Manzanar National HIstoric Site (aka: Japanese Internment Camp) which we did on Constitution Day--I was choked up and angry. Drove us to the bus s top with our heavy gear, at 6 in the morning. They made our stay personal, fun, comfortable, complete. We enjoyed the German motorcycle riders. Don't miss the French Restaurant. We Oregonians loved the Eastern Sierra, and Owens Valley. Like us, you will come back to this motel again!

Excellent place to stay. The owners went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful and memorable experience for our anniversary. They even recommended the best taco wagon in town. The cabin was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Despite being right on the highway, noise was not an issue. Would definitely return for another stay.

We loved our three-day stay at the Mt. Williamson Motel and Base Camp! My girlfriend and I were visiting the eastern Sierra with no plans in place. Thankfully Doug and Strider stepped in with guidance and maps. Thanks to them, we drove the incredibly short distance to the Kearsarge Pass trail head, and completed the four-hour round trip hike to the summit. They suggested two other hikes that were just as memorable, directed us to great dining in the area, and guided our weary bones to some amazing hot springs.

The beds and mattresses are new, the pillows, sheets and towels are fluffy, the price is right, and we'll be back!

There are several mom & pop motels in town, and they all look pretty good, but they will have to get up very early in the morning to beat this team. Small room, but exceedingly clean. GREAT bed, hadn't slept that well since we left home two weeks ago. Breakfast cooked to order is a really nice touch. Fun meeting other travelers. We will stay again when we come through again.

Room Tip: They all look similar, but the road is noisy so you might want to try for one farthest from it.

Strider and Doug provide the perfect place for zero days while backpacking on the JMT or PCT or traveling on 395. Great breakfast with opportunity to share stories with other travelers.
Accommodations are excellent - clean, comfortable and very accessible to the Owens Valley or High Sierras adventures. So relaxing that you might want to stay more than a day or two!!!
Attentive and caring are Strider and Doug!
