Inland villa away from overcrowded resorts 4 km from nearest town, 30 from Ardales lakes or climbing in El chorro and 50 km from Malaga. Beautiful villa with every home comfort you may need (including electric blankets for winter months). Lovely terrace with pool and friendly dogs to play with.
Sue and Miguel are wonderful hosts. Welcoming, friendly and full of ideas for day trips.
A perfect location for climbers, bikers, hikers or a family wanting to relax by the pool.
I hope we can stay at casa sampo next time we visit the area.
Thanks for a wonderful holiday
Only thirty minutes drive to El Chorro and forty minutes to the great Deplomilandia!
We've done the Camping climbing trips in the past but over the last few years we like to stay somewhere nicer. Casa Sampo is awesome, we'd somtimes get back early enough to enjoy the last of the day's sunshine by the pool with a glass of Rioja.
Our hosts are just the friendliest and most welcoming people you'll ever meet. We are looking forward to seeing Sue and Miguel on our next trip.
The villa has a well equipped kitchen, lots of room and would easily sleep six people.
For all you adventurous people, the Camino Del Ray (the Kings Walkway) has been rebuilt and is due open in Febuary, it should be on everyone's tick list, don't forget your camera!
My friend and I recently stayed at Casa Sampo for nine nights. The purpose of our trip was to climb at El Chorro and to explore the surrounding area on rest days. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the accommodation' comfy beds, spacious lounge/ dining area and a nice clean bathroom with luxurious towels supplied. The accommodation offers adequate space for 6 people, is nice and peaceful and a great place to relax after a days climbing or exploring Malaga, Granada etc. It is only around 30 minutes drive to El Chorro and a similar time to the coast. Sue and Miguel were very helpful with advice but also happy to leave you to your own devices. Sue also cooks excellent two course dinners on request, I fully recommend both the quantity and quality. So if your trip is for climbing or just relaxing and exploring Casa Sampo makes the ideal base.
My wife, son and I stayed at Casa Sampo for a week in October. The purpose of the holiday was to explore the rock climbing around El Chorro gorge. The accommodation was lovely and will easily take a group of up to six. Sue an Miguel were great hosts and they and the accommodation lived up to other reviews. It is a good place to go, you will not be disappointed.
From a climbing perspective, the villa is about 30 minutes south of El Chorro, it takes about 35 minute to reach Turon East and West via Ardales and 40 minutes to reach Displomandia.
While you have to drive to reach El Chorro, it isn't much of a disadvantage and you are well placed for rest day trips elsewhere. Malaga is surprisingly good, the old town, museums and castle being well worth a visit.

We've just returned from a wonderfully relaxing & enjoyable week at Casa Sampo.
We found the villa easily as the directions were excellent, a great start! Sue was lovely, helpful, accommodating and friendly from start to finish of our stay (we didn't meet her husband as he was away). Nothing was too much trouble, & the lemon cake we'd read about was gorgeous & welcoming!
The accommodation was excellent, facilities superb, area stunning & peaceful.
I had some lovely long chats with Sue, one or two over a glass of wine, wonderful, while my daughter thoroughly enjoyed the company of the gorgeously irrepressible Mulungu, TK the cat, and lovely Mufuta...
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Casa Sampo to anyone. Thank you Sue for making our holiday so, so lovely. We went intending (and needing) a complete rest, & that's exactly what we got!
I'm not normally one for hyperbole but we've just returned from the most wonderful holiday here.
Upon arrival we were struck by the number of repeat visitors here. Now we know why.
Sue & Miguel are wonderful hosts; helpful & on hand when needed as well as discrete & considerate if required.
We've had other great holidays in the past. This time we just didn't want to leave.
Nitty gritty: isolated & quiet (barring occasional dogs barking) yet only 30 mins drive from Malaga airport, 10 mins from shops & easy drives to beaches, mountains, lakes.... you name it.
Will we be back? You bet. As long as not too many people read this review and book first.....
I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at Casa Sampo. Sue and Miguel were extremely kind and helpful and even welcomed us with one of Sue's delicious homemade cakes. The apartment was very clean, spacious and comfortable. And the setting of the house can't be beat - beautiful views of the valley and a pool to cool down from the hot Andalusian sun. But more than anything, Casa Sampo really feels like a home and Sue and Miguel have thought of everything to make their guests' stay as fun and relaxing as possible. From the organized information about nearby sights and activities, to games and DVDs, to the friendly pets - there is something for everyone. It was definitely one of the highlights of our Andalucia trip!
