We were looking for a quiet, relaxing setting to spend a few nights in the New Year and Cortijo Valverde turned out to be just what the doctor ordered! The place itself is set in beautiful rural surroundings but what really made the difference were the hosts Caroline and Ali, ably assisted by their three cats and dog! The room and amenities were excellent and Ali's skills as a cartographer made visiting nearby areas easy and hassle-free! The setting is ideal if you are looking for walking/trekking trails and most of the attractions are within an hour's drive. As travellers what you need is recommendations for places to visit, things to do and restaurants to eat in, all of which Caroline and Ali had plenty of - with a 100% success rate! The cava and cake for my birthday was a very thoughtful touch. All in all we are very happy customers and seriously hope that we can visit again.

We spent this Christmas at Cortijo Valverde. Caroline our hosess cooked us some very tasty traditional home made food and Ali was the perfect host chatty and informative but never over the top. And what a good waiter. All this made for a perfect Christmas with no shopping, cooking, or washing up.
All the info needed was presented in a folder for the guests, to visit the lovely places close by.
The rooms are smashing for a winter visit, lovely and warm.
We live in Mojacar about 4 hours away so will go and see them again for sure.

Room Tip: Only saw our room but I believe all the rooms are simular. Very nice. Even bathrobes and slippers...

We were looking for somewhere relaxing to spend the Christmas break with friends, and Cortijo Valverde proved to be perfect. The location is stunning, and Caroline and Ali were perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and the meals were delicious. It was like being at home for Christmas without the hard work. We will most certainly return.

Just spent Xmas here with other friends and the hosts were super, the food was good, rooms more than ticked the boxes. I expected to be a little cold but not at all, facilities are as described and a super base to go exploring the area. Would return in an instant.

We were looking for somewhere very comfortable to stay after some hard and long days climbing in the El Chorro Gorge. The rooms were exceptionally clean, warm and comfortable. Ali and Caroline provide wonderful food including some very tasty packed lunches. The hotel was very quiet (early November) but our hosts (and their lovely dog, Freddie, and the cats) kept us company after dinner. We didn't have the greatest of weather for our climbing but we have found a great hotel in a beautiful part of Spain and will definitely be back.

Inspite of the horrendous weather, we had a lovely stay here. The setting is delightful, lovely gardens set around the pool, which unfortunately we didn't get to use. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent and there was plenty of it too. The rooms are a good size and kept very clean. Caroline and Ali could not have been more helpful and accommodating, from providing lunch when we were stranded in the hotel for a day due to the floods which had swept away the road to the hotel, to arranging for us to be taken to the train station when we had to abandon the hire car, after Carline kindly spoke to the hire company to explain our situation. Cortijo Valverde is very well situated for visiting places such as Antiquera, El Torcal and El Churro and is also not far from Malaga. All in all perfect as a base for site seeing or just to relax and unwind. Thanks Caroline and Ali for your superb hospitality especially when you had so much to deal with after the storm. We would love to return when the weather is better so we can enjoy Cortijo Valverde to its full.

A beautiful property with stunning views all around. Lovely rooms full of local fabrics. Lots of extra little things that make the difference, slippers and robes, tissues in the bathroom, a proper hair dryer. Caroline and Ali are caring hosts with a wealth of knowledge about the surrounding area.
Do book to have supper at the Cortijo as Caroline really is a fabulous cook!

Room Tip: All of the rooms are beautiful.
