Our third visit to Cortijo Valverde and with hosts like Ali and Caroline, you really don't want to leave! From start to finish, you are made most welcome and nothing is too much trouble, whether its places to visit, routes to get to your destination or which wine is best suited to Caroline's amazing 3 course meals!
If it all gets too much, then relax by the beautiful pool with the mountains as your back drop, you may even see an eagle if lucky? Or sit in one of the many shady spots around the garden with a cool drink and the view to take in, why wouldn't you choose this wonderful destination for your holiday, we will definitely be back again....and again.

We stayed for 4 nights as the first part of our trip and had a wonderful time. The location is stunning, so peaceful and relaxing. Caroline and Ali look after you so well and the food is great, we stayed for dinner all 4 nights and enjoyed the dinner party format. Car hire is a must if you want to explore the area. Would recommend a trip to the Ardales lake, Ali gave us a suggested walk round them which was so quiet and also shaded from the heat. Alora is also worth a visit, some nice tapas bars in the square and not that many tourists. Overall a great start to our holiday and we'll definitely be back.

A 3-day wind-down prior to rejoining the madding crowd. This was the perfect end to a wonderful Spanish holiday. A tranquil setting, super accommodation and outstanding hosts; we cannot praise Caroline and Ali enough for the way they looked after us. All of the great reviews about Cortijo Valverde are spot on and well deserved - we hope to return one day.

Our second visit to Caroline & Ali's wonderful establishment , Cortijo Valverde. My husband booked , very last minute for our 20th wedding anniversary . As our stay this time was only 3 nights , Ali suggested we caught the train to Alora where he would collect us . On the morning of our anniversary, we were presented with chocolates, bubbly and a lovely card from our hosts .
Just as before, nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel very special . From start to finish you are treated as friends by genuinely lovely people . The dinner party format is a joyous event , complete with civilised pre dinner drinks on the terrace . As before Caroline provided the most sumptuous fayre and happily shares her delicious cake recipes if you ask . Cortijo Valverde is a very special place , a home to a wonderful couple who have a genuine love of opening their home and sharing it with those fortunate enough to stumble across it . We'll be back ....

When I first visited Cortijo Valverde I knew I would be a returning guest and so it has proved. The setting is beautiful, deep in the rural heart of Andalucia with soft breezes, the sounds of chickens and goats and the odd donkey braying - away from the hustle and bustle of the Costa. It is only 45 minutes drive from Malaga airport but like entering a different world. You can choose to chill out by the lovely pool or be more active as you are within reach of Granada and Cordoba or more local attractions such as the lakes, Antequera, Ronda or the beaches.

Caroline and Ali have created such a comfortable and welcoming hotel. The food and wines are wonderful and the evenings spent round the dinner table have provided us with many happy and laughter filled evenings. If you are wondering whether to try Cortijo Valverde then I would urge you to give it a go - you will have a wonderful time.

Well, we came back.. and we soon confirmed why we did. Ali and Caroline were there to welcome us as indeed they do with every guest in their own warm and unassuming way.

We stayed for nine nights on this visit for the second part of a two week birding holiday. It is perfectly situated to allow us to carry out some inland mountain birding coupled with a relaxing hideaway which has a charm which needs to be experienced to appreciate. We last came in the autumn which was brilliant but this stay was something else. The garden was flourishing and the surrounding fields were alive with birdsong and green. It was as if we had come to a different country and what a change it was.

Caroline has continued to cunjour up her superb nightly extravarganza of freshly prepared fine fare of food. Again, everyone at the communal table polished off all put before them. Thank you Caroline for the post holiday inforced much needed diet.

Ali was always on hand to provide any guidance required on the local area supported as always by Freddie the dog and the cats. Thanks also for some great after dinner conversation. Plenty of food for thought and humour in good measure.

Whilst enjoying breakfast which I could not fault you can not help to ignore the Tripadvisor awards presented to Caroline and Ali for excellence provided during the past four years. I can appreciate the effort put in by them to achieve such accolades and applaud them. We will certainly be back to enjoy what I can only describe as the best of the best in B&B accommodation in rural Spain.

Oh, for the birders reading this, the list ended up with 170 species and with Red Necked Nightjars calling in the valley close by, it was a great trip.
