This is simply the nicest hotel on the coast
Quiet and elegant without feeling you are in Marbella
The food is great but the place is slightly out the way so a car is simply a must
if you like golf or tennis the facilities are perfect

Room Tip: Must have afternoon sun with a good balcony

It stands out on top of a Hill, about a mile from the bling of the Costa through manicured lawns and willowy trees, glorious, we thought, a haven, we mused, an oasis, we whispered,
But there in the Foyer, the first thing we saw was a youth in a string vest and a Mohican hair cut. Then sudden flashes of light. Not the heavens opening up at such a desecration, but a press photographer.. taking pictures not only of Mr Stringvest, but also of some barrel chested Russians.
We discovered there was a Ruissian Film Festival taklng place, but happily in some adjoining building, and presumably The Battleship Potemkin was moored on the large lake somewhere.
Anyway recovering from that shock, the rest was bliss.
Delightful, smiling staff both in reception and the restaurants, and a very elegant room overlooking the lake, the golf course, and in the distance, the sea. Bath needs something firm to grip as one gets out, but perhaps I am being a tad too curmudgeonly.
The fact that we could not get BBC 1 or 2 on the excellent flat screen, was not the fault of the hotel, but of the BBC who were busy depriving thousands of Brits by changing their satellite at that time.
The Hotel is family owned ( it shows in the attitude) and has been there 10 years, though it all looked very new and sparkling.
A wonderful and comfortable Terrace, a dining room with marvelous presentation, though a tad pricey.. a problem overcome without demure when we asked to share a Main which in the event was perfectly adequate. Drinks were something of a surprise.. £40 for two Black Label whiskeys.. bit much, but the Russian Ugliogarchs seemingly pay into the hundreds for the more ones. and that is per glass, not per bottle. The drawing room near the bar, is very elegant and comfortable, so maybe that's what we pay for..
Breakfast was perfect, all very fresh, and replenished regularly, hot tea or coffee ( bliss) and a choice of inside or on the Terrace. The Breakfast room doubles as an Italian Restaurant at other times of the day, was not due to open for another week or two...hopefully we will be back to sample it.

And then, the icing on the cake, the day after we left an e-mail to tell us we had been overcharged by about 14o euros, and our cc would be credit, and it was, now how many chains would have done that...viva la family.

Room Tip: Rooms facing sea have a better view. ( so what else is new ?)

We arrived on friday lunchtime. To be greeted by concierge who unloaded and parked our car. We were then shown around the hotel and too our room. The rooms were big and spacious. The staff were always helpful and friendly. And I never felt patronised by them which can sometimes happen. The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice and can be Eaten on the patio. We played two rounds of golf both courses in excellent condition but very hard. The only small criticism was we had an 9 year old . And ther wasn't a great deal for him to do. He wasnt allowed in the indoor pool as it was part of the spa. But the outdoor was closed due to being cold. But he did go to the beach club and played tennis . Also the small cantina de golf was nice and the prices very reasonable. The hotel is a little out of the way so its hire car or taxi everywhere. But well worth a visit

We are glad that you enjoyed our Suites and that you had the opportunity to experience our new and renovated Mediterranean culinary options at our Popular Beach Club, this is indeed the best choice for lunch after a golf day at Villa Padierna golf Club.

Thank you also for your recommendation of renting a car for our guest.

We stayed two nights in this hotel last weekend.

The hotel and grounds are as expected really nice. It is build in the style of a roman palace.
We booked stay with breakfast and dinner and also had a spa treatment.

Pro's /cons room:

Pro's:
The room we stayed in had a really nice view overlooking the golf course straight to the sea.
Very confortable bed
Decent size room
Decent size bathroom

Cons:
I couldn't believe the noise level in the room, there was a connecting room to the room next door which strangely enough only consisted of a single door, whilst in all good hotels I stayed in had double doors with good insulation.
It was as if you were in the same room with your neighbours. I could hear literally what they were saying, word for word. Unfortunately they had some small children , so all the crying and nagging that went on I was able to "enjoy" as well.
On top of this I was treated to the man in the room snoring all night!
Obviously this is not the fault of the people staying next door but due to the very poor insulation between rooms !
Same in hallways, twice everybody in the hotel must have been woken up because of some very noisy/drunk Russians going to their room in the middle of the night.

Bathroom: Very poor lighting , specially for ladies who want to put on their make up. Although there is a make up mirror, the lighting in the bathroom is insufficient.
Shower: Totally wrong designed: You can't go in the shower to put it on the right temperature without getting soaked or worse burnt if you don't get the temperature right the first time. There is no hand shower(!) just a big overhead shower.
We used half of the shower gel after the first day , you would expect that after cleaning the next day the cleaner would put new shower gel and fresh soaps (normal thing to do in a 5 star hotel) that were also used but she didn't.

Breakfast /Dinner

Pro's:

Dinner was good, friendly staff although seemed a bit understaffed

Cons:
Breakfast was absolutely one of the worse breakfast I have had in a decent hotel !

Nobody to greet you upon arrival, after standing around for a few minutes we went to look for a table ourselves.

There was very little choice. A few things spread out here and there, some fresh fruit ,some yoghurts and cereal , some scrambled eggs in a container , some bacon and that was it.

There wasn't even a toaster to toast your bread ! No butter/margarine anywhere, I had to ask for it and the waiter had to go to the kitchen to get me one little pack of butter.
I did ask for a boiled egg, the waiter did order and brought me . No salt anywhere, had to ask again for it. Not exactly a 5 star service /quality breakfast.
There was no light on in the main area, very dark as if they were trying to save money on lights.

This was the same the two days we had breakfast there, no butter, no salt , no lights. Just one waiter who seemed like he couldn't handle everything.

Very disappointing and so easy to solve. Needs much more choice and better quality products up to standard for a 5 star hotel. Also it would be nice if the waiter could explain if there are any more choices that possibly can be ordered.

Spa:

Pro's: really nice treatment and a nice lady(Vicky) who did the treatment.

Contra's: They booked the wrong treatment so i had to wait 10 minutes so the lady could prepare another room
After the treatment it took them three times to get the bill right !

Conclusion: In my opinion not worth the money.I live in Marbella and just wanted a small "luxurious" break. If you are looking to stay in a 5 star hotel with 5 star service , no noise in the rooms and a nice breakfast I would definitely stay elsewhere next time.

Villa Padierna is a luxury resort in a quiet peaceful atmosphere, located in one of the best areas in the world. It is a golf resort, the wellness spa is very good and the gardens and spaces around allow privacy and relax without even noticing that there are people around. The staff is great, same for the food. The only minor point is the transportation to Marbella, whoch requires taxi only. Marbella is very beautiful and it would be a shame to not visit it as well as the small towns around, the beaches ect.
