What a great place! The hotel itself is very nice, and the staff does everything in its power to make your stay as comfortable as you want it. From the doormen to the front desk staff, to the concierge (Barbara was fantastic!) to the restaurant staff, we honestly felt they all cared that we had an enjoyable experience.

The grounds are beautiful, the parking is convenient, the location is impossible to beat, and the rooms were very nice. We walked everywhere, the only time we used our car was to visit Simon Pearce, and the Long Trail Brewery (both worth the short ride by the way).

My wife enjoyed a massage at the spa and had nothing but good things to say about it (though I thought it was expensive). We weren't overly thrilled with the dinner at the Red Rooster, but the breakfast buffet was quite good. The Tavern was very quaint, but only open from 5 - 9pm.......which we thought was odd.

Overall we completely loved this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

Recently went back to what used to be our favorite Inn and were very disappointed. The new decor..I believe they call it "Contemporary Country" just does not belong in a place like that. It used to feel like a cozy New England Inn - sadly no longer.

Besides the change in decor, we also noticed that the Inn appears to be more family oriented - which means lots of small children. We love children but the reason we used to go to the Woodstock Inn was for a quiet getaway. Not possible anymore. There really was no quiet space other than your room for reading a book. We used to love sitting in the big leather sofa's (which are now gone) by the big fireplace in the lobby but not this trip.

When we arrived to the Inn we were given a schedule of "activities" for the next day which stated that the pool was closed for the weekend and apparently was closed for the whole week before we came. It would have been nice to know that ahead of time.

Dining - the main dining room was closed - we were told that it is now being used only for functions. They do have a new restaurant called the Red Rooster - name does not fit the decor - restaurant is contemporary. The menu is limited for each meal - there are actually more choices on the room service menu. We used to look forward to a wonderful dinner in the dining room at least one night while we were there. We had dinner in the tavern one night and asked the bartender for a sandwich that was on the roomservice menu and what an attitude we got - you would have thought we were asking for something out of the ordinary. We did not care much for the food this trip.

Lastly, at 830am on morning of check out they decided to schedule routine maintence of the elevator and fire alarm. It would also have been nice to know about that the day before so we could have brought our luggage down from the 3rd floor earlier.

WANTED: NEW FAVORITE INN - Any suggestions?

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. This feedback is very important and will certainly be shared with our management team. We understand how the fire alarm/elevator testing along with the pool being closed was an inconvenience during your stay. We appreciate your request to have known about this either prior or upon your arrival and this process will be reviewed.
Sincerely,
The Woodstock Inn & Resort

Recently stayed here for a company retreat and was completely surprised by the Woodstock Inn. Rooms were great. Staff was friendly. Just wish there was a shuttle to the ski area in Killington. The small mountain next to Woodstock was disappointing. I would stay again.

Prior to my travel to the Woodstock Inn & Resort with colleagues I researched the property so I was expecting a decent stay but boy did it surprise when I arrived and throughout the stay. When you first walk into the lobby area you are greeted by a huge fireplace that makes you feel as if you have stepped back in time and was welcoming due to the early March chill in the air.

We had a rather large group and the Inn was well prepared when we arrived which made for a quick and smooth check in process. I had viewed pictures of the rooms prior but when I entered it was a refreshing sight. The motif blended in very well with historic Woodstock and the room had a very elegant, upscale touch and the bathroom was very well appointed.

I found the service of the staff to be excellent. I personally didn't have any special requests but they were attentive and very responsive to our group's needs. I have been to plenty of group settings and I must say the food far exceeded my expecations as well.

Overall a great experience and would come back with the family if my journeys lead me north at some point.

We enjoyed the Sugar Weekend special in mid-March. Great rate for two nights, breakfast included (which, if we had to pay out of pocket woudl have been $70 for 2 adults, 2 kids). Didn't go to Suicide Six, but we did try the Nordic--rentals were free for all of us and we paid for the trail fees. Kids loved the pool as it there was no one there, being end of the ski season and all. Took a trip Simon Glass, ate at Bently's and a great chinese food place in town, can't remember the name. Kids loved the chess, large firepalce, and free cookies and hto chocolate at 4pm daily. Go with the kids, it's a blast.

The Woodstock Inn & Resort is absolutely beautiful and a great get away. The rooms are gorgeous and the staff is amazing and very helpful. I treated myself to a facial in the Spa and loved every minute of it.
