“Excellent Golf Package deal!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 July 2011

First Class all the way! We thought it was a bit pricey but it is fairly priced for everything that's included. The breakfast buffet was fantastic, room was fine, golf course in great shape, pool and amenities at the fitness center outstanding.
The other outstanding feature was the quality and quantity of helpful and friendly employees. At the Inn, the golf course, the fitness center, even the reservations ladies we spoke to initially were all "shining stars".
Highly recommend Woodstock for a couples golf vacation.

This was a family weekend, and the Woodstock Inn did a good job with the basics. The restaurant was nothing special, but afternoon tea provided some of the best cookies I've had in a long time! Service was friendly and concierge was helpful. Rooms were a solid step above Hilton and Marriott, although a bit on the small side with very traditional furnishings. Perfect for a family or laid back adult weekend, but don't expect much entertainment or trendsetting.

The Inn continues to offer wonderful food, service and amenities. We booked an on-line rate and received the same level of services as we have during our past visits. Enjoyed a fantastic facial with Jillian. Will return with my Mom in August and leave my husband at home for a girls weekend away!

The Woodstock Inn was the first leg of our honeymoon on September 11, 1994. We spent 2 nights and had a great time. We visit locations in Vermont often, some on the level of this gem. Today we take advantage of travel deals all the time and when they came up for The Woodstock Inn during the past it seemed we always had something else going on. This occasion was different. I ahppened to find a special recently and worked it into a long weekend where it would be the front end of our trip to Sugarbush and Clay Brook. Our brother and sister in law came along too. They had visited here more recently then us and saw some of the new and exciting changes. The staff is top notch and extremely helpful at all points of business. The facility spent $70,000 per room to renovate. Flat screens are in all rooms. There is a new dining area with bar and a 10 million dollar Spa that recently opened. The four of us dined in the tavern, on the outside porch (open air) and all meals were delicious. Our server, Suzette, was fantastic. After dinner we enjoyed some adult beverages in The Red Rooster bar with drinks poured by Scott. The next morning, after a breakfast buffet in The Red Rooster, my wife wanted to see the Spa. It's really beautiful. Although we didn't have time for any services this visit, we did purchase some items to take home and Tina gave us a nice tour of the facility. Mrs. G already is planning for the Spa on the next trip. In addition to The Woostock Inn & Resort there are plenty of shops, specialty stores and many other things to do in the area. If you golf, play raquet ball, swim, or just want a good workout, the Fitness builing is just down the road. Become a member of The Preferred Hotel group by filling out a card at the front desk and receive discounts and other benefits. We look forward to the next visit.

We really like the Woodstock Inn and have visited on a yearly basis for years. Unfortunately, our last two visits have been very frustrating and we will not be returning.
It appears if you book a package, which we did on our last two visits, you are treated as a "second class" guest. Both times we were given the smallest room in the least desirable location, (over the service docks and heating and cooling units), even though the Inn was virtually empty. We belong to a hotel group which entitles us to certain amenities including an automatic room upgrade "when available"- it certainly would have been available. We were not offered or given an upgrade and had to ask three times for the other amenties to which we were entitled - most unpleasant to have to ask, let alone three times, but at that point I was determined. When we were checking in on our second visit, we realized they were placing us in the same area as the previous year, (when we were awakened at 5:30 am by garbage truck and then again at 6:00 am by a delivery truck), and advised them of our experience the previous year, so they moved us across the hall to an equally tiny room overlooking the restuarant rooftop- but at least it was quiet. The restuarant service was extremely slow and uncomfortable. Upon checkout they did ask us how our stay was and we told them of our disappointment. The clerk called over the Manager on Duty and we had to reinterate our dissatisfaction; we don't think she was even listening, her eyes appeared to glaze over and her response was to please sign off on the bill. Mind you we were not irate or boisterous, we simply recounted our experience. As we walked away we were dumbfounded and agreed, much to our regret, we could never return.

First of all, nowhere in Vermont is a bad spot, so if you are staying at the Woodstock Inn chances are your trip is golden. The hotel, while dated, is really quite lovely with attentive staff and nice spot on the green dating back to the 18th century with lawn chairs outside meant for a meaningful chat between guests. The pool area is nice, restaurant is nice and the concierge was one of the most helpful I have encountered in a long time. Take a short trip to Quechee, shop perhaps, visit Simon Pearce (you will definitely want to go there for dinner) and definitely bike ride. Also, the nearby Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Historic Site has great hiking and views that will knock your socks off. If you have never been to Vermont before, this, in my opinion, being a New Englander, is one of the nicest spots. If you have time also, I recommend traveling across the river to Hanover, NH, home of Dartmouth College and a lovely spot for a day trip with picturesque views of the mountains. The one problem we had was a slightly noisy neighbor smoking something, but the smell went away quickly and the beds were nice and comfortable. Overall a nice experience, I would stay here again, and it is great for families, friends, weddings, or old reunions just to catch up. The town of Woodstock is very nice, small, and quaint with some nice shops and the restaurant at the inn is very nice with great entrees and desserts to die for. I would stay here again, Woodstock is a very nice town and the hotel matches all the town's amenities.

Located in "down town" Woodstock Vermont. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was updated and clean (very important to me). Outdoor pool. Wife recommends the Spa. In-hotel restaurant "Red Rooster" was good, but recommend nearby Simon Pearce for fine dining. Our room faced the rear green area and was quiet. One strange issue is cell phone coverage (we have Verizon) was very poor. Even with hotel WI-FI, reception was iffy. This was not an important factor for us as we were on a vacation get-away.

Room Tip: I liked the rear "garden" view. Front rooms may have local traffic noise.
