We have stayed in a lot of places around Hanover, Woodstock, and Stowe, and honestly the Woodstock Inn is one of the best. The rooms are first rate, but also they just do a great job creating a communal space in the lobby. There are places to read by the fire, they provide you with tea and cookies in the afternoon, and there are so many things to do in the area. I'd strongly recommend this to anyone. Even when there was an issue with our room, they quickly fixed it and provided us with a complementary dinner. It was a great experience. Oh, and the spa, how could I forget. Best spa ever! Love the outdoor hot tub. Giver yourself extra time to chill out there before your appointment.

Thank you for staying with us, and for the gracious review! I’m glad you enjoyed your room, the huge fireplace, and of course the afternoon tea, Woodstock-style! I’m sorry to hear that you had an issue with your room, but happy that we were able to resolve it for you quickly; and we appreciate your pointing it out to us, so we can prevent recurrences. Hope to welcome you back to Woodstock again soon! Rick Reno

We had the pleasure of spending two days at the woodstock inn this winter. We had a wonderful experience. The cross country skiing at their Nordic center was fabulous. This was a travelzoo package deal and well worth the price. The inn itself is a beautiful and cozy place. The food in both restaurants was excellent. Most importantly this was the friendliest staff of any place we have ever stayed

This hotel is just so classy, elegant and top notch in every way. They emailed in advance welcoming you and offered a list of activities and restaurants. Upon arrival we were greeted and assisted with our luggage. I did not even wait 10 seconds to check in and it was prompt and friendly. When arriving at our room it was very spacious. The bathroom was huge. Double sinks and plenty of storage space everywhere. Free and fast wireless and many outlets for our electronics. Bell staff was great coming and leaving and seemed to understand our plight with many bags and two kids for skiing. We were planning to go into to town for dinner, but it was snowing so we decided to eat in the hotel, without a reservation. We put our name in at both restaurants and sat by the fireplace. The hostesses in both places were so nice. They looked for us and came to get us when our table was ready. Victoria in the Red Rooster found us in Richardson's Tavern and then made our reservation for the Red Rooster the next night. So above and beyond. At 4 p.m. they have cookies, hot chocolate and tea. We got back from skiing at 445 and there was no more hot chocolate and I told someone and even though they were not bringing out more, they brought a cup for each of my children from the back. They have the most beautiful fireplace in the lobby and then another one downstairs. They have pool, air hockey, ping pong and many games. We did not get to do a sleigh ride, use the pool since these were all off site and with the amount of snow and ice we just wanted to stay in the Main Inn, which met our needs beautifully. This is a wonderful retreat and I would highly recommend it and definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Our room on the second floor was very convenient to the lobby. Very quiet. Never heard noise in th...

We were surprised when we found that the Inn was so large and sprawling. Then we found the rooms were very comfortable, the staff was incredibly attentive and friendly, and the Inn felt more and more charming and intimate each day...it felt like a modernized version of an old country resort. We loved being right in town, and we loved having so much right at the resort on a day when the weather wasn't great. The spa was beautiful and the services were great, the manager at spa was SO lovely and my husband and I decided that we wanted a living room just like the great room at the spa! Renting snow shoes and heading to Mt Tom was a real highlight, as were our meals at the Red Rooster (great especially for breakfast), Melaza (in town) and the Wholesome Kitchen for a great lunch. Just be aware that if you go on a peak week (we went President's week), it will be crawling with children. Empty nesters might choose a week when school is in session.

We love your description of our property: a modernized version of an old country resort… and are thrilled that you were able to enjoy snowshoeing, The Spa, and just exploring our lovely little town! Maybe we’ll get to welcome you back during the spring, when the hillsides awaken from their long winter’s rest! All the best, Rick Reno

Very relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Very clean and comfortable. The Inn staff is very helpful in taking care of any needs. The location is great since you can walk into town for just about whatever you need.

Room Tip: Any room I had was comfortable. We have been coming here for 20 years.

We were looking for some relaxing time during our trip through Vermont from the UK. We had stayed in some questionable places prior to this and were delighted when the Woodstock Inn offered us a room at a last minute discounted rate meaning we could stay for 2 nights. Its great when a hotel wants to accommodate you and is able to see beyond the room rate, because we then ended up spending lots of money in their spa and restaurants - so everyone benefits. Great rooms, spotless and extremely comfortable - we never heard a peep from anyone else so obviously very well insulated. Very friendly, helpful staff who made us feel right at home. Lovely hotel to relax in and we also sampled food in the red rooster and the Tavern - both great. My only 'niggle' was an experience in the spa - I booked a pedicure and i was asked if I'd like my hands moisturised whilst having it done - i obviously said yes, but was not told this would add an extra $20 to my bill, and was also not told that 20% service charge would be added to the total bill. Making it a rather expensive pedicure at $120! Better to inform of all charges up front to avoid disappointment!

My son and I spent a guys long weekend main purpose golf at the resort. When we checked in we planned our time there and figured we play golf in Friday. Thursday night we went to book our golf outing only to be told the course was closed for a tournament all day. This is unacceptable as a main feature for a resort. They should have told guests when they checked inn to play another day. So we were unable to play and my son was upset. In and admission they were wrong they gave us a free night. Tried to use the free night this past weekend only to be told we can use if the resort is 80 percent or more occupied You have to be kidding. You screw up and you put restrictions I've stayed at hotels globally but never seen a lack if customer care. The resort is a "leading hotel of the works ". Well they are leading them off a steep bridge. Management is a bunch of bone heads and dine with there resort
