We stopped in Woodstock for a visit but did not stay at the Inn overnight.. It was a nice quiet place to have a late lunch. We were seated immediately even without reservations. There are only four tables outside and they filled as we arrived, but we had a nice table overlooking the porch. Excellent service. We ordered a lobster roll which was good but not the best we have ever had ($15 is not the most expensive we have had either) However, we also ordered the the seafood stew ($18) ans it WAS the best we have ever had--absolutely loaded with great seafood, lobster, good mussels, large shrimp, excellent halibut and great broth. A glass of beer was $5 which beat the price we paid in other like places. So not inexpensive, but not wildly expensive for a resort restaurant and reasonable for seafood these days.. And portion of stew so large, took some home. The server didn't grumble when we asked and brought it well boxed and in a bag to carry. Would go back definitely.

The service as well as the food is fabulous. We dined outside on the porch which was relaxing and lovely. Service is great! Drinks at the bar were fun! We will definitely go back.

The place is conveniently located in the Woodstock Inn so we ate here a few times while we stayed at the resort. We thought the food was subpar for brunch in a hotel like the Woodstock Inn. The blueberry pancakes I had were cold even though they had been sitting on top of a lit sterno. There were no potatoes or sausage available. My girlfriend requested both of these. The potatoes were flavorless when they came out. The sausages especially tasted like they were store bought and microwaved. With the brunch, however, you are able to get a large variety of food for the money spent. One day we were there, they were serving breakfast a la carte and it was way too pricey for the quality of food. At least for breakfast, don't let the restaurant's awards fool you.

Other reviews on the red rooster raved about it so we were excited....we ate outside which was lovely. I had the beet cavier salad which was very good....I ordered scallops and did ask to have them cooked through.....however they were over cooked and dark brown and dried out...I also asked them to hold the bacon which they did not...my husband ordered the Mac and cheese which is on the tavern menu but they let you order off either menu....he was unhappy with his dish after two bites....we waited 25 minutes before our waiter ever returned to our table to check on our dinners....the manager was nice enough to take the two dinners off our bill but we were disappointed and would not eat here again

Stayed at The Woodstock Inn last week. We had two dinners and three lunches at The Red Rooster. All meals were very very good. Service is always outstanding. The menu is very extensive and specials are offered at every meal. We will be back!
