Description: Wonderful restaurant and reasonably priced! Not in the center of town but just outside of town. Varied menu with tasty specials. A place the locals eat! From the Hwy side of the restaurant it doesnt look like much but eat here and you WILL NOT be dissapointed. We stumbled on it just last week while doing a New England Fall Colors Trip. Excellent service by Thadeus and Rhonda. Want to share with TripAdvisor Community. Husband had a wonderful Steak w Bleu Cheese and I had delicious Boursin Stuffed Chicken. Excellent!!

“Was very good.”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

Dinner was spectacular last year and was just good this past September. The waiter was a real nice person, very attentive and accommodating. All around a good experience.

“Enjoyed meal at the bar”
Reviewed 31 October 2013

We visited Spooners one evening and enjoyed two salads and a bowl of cajun gumbo that was excellent. We are regular visitors to Lafayette, Louisiana and the Spooners gumbo was good as what we get down there. We enjoyed sitting at the bar and chatting with the bartender. The owner/chef does a great job with the food.

“Home-good cooking with a smile”
Reviewed 18 October 2013

Wonderful value for money, with delicious home cooked food and smiling friendly service - they will adapt the menu if you can't eat certain things. Scallops to die for. We ate there every night of our recent trip, it was THAT good.

“Slow service, disappointing food”
Reviewed 15 October 2013

Service was SLOW. Only a few people in the restaurant.

Based on recommendations our expectations were too high. We also had an embarrassing group of older women that ruined most people's experience in this restaurant that night.

“Really disappointing”
Reviewed 24 September 2013

This place had been recommended by friends, so we were keen to give it a try despite the below average reviews on TripAdvisor. Unfortunately, this was not a great experience.

The decor is very tired, even by Vermont standards - this is not filled with Vermont charm, but just looks run down. Service was slow, mainly because they were understaffed. One barman, who didn't venture out from behind the bar despite having no-one sitting there, and one poor waitress running around trying to keep everyone happy.

Then there was the food. My burger was fine - but, then, you would struggle to do much wrong with a burger. My wife, on the other hand, ordered the Vermonter salad, which is supposed to be a green salad with bacon, ham and cheese (amongst other things). When it arrived, it was just a plate of lettuce with tomatoes on it. We asked if that was actually the Vermonter and were told "yes". So I asked where the bacon, ham etc was - the answer was "we have run out". That wasn't mentioned when the plate was put in front of us, the food was just delivered and the waitress walked off. So we were basically left with a plate of lettuce for $12. When I said that that wasn't good enough, the waitress went back to the kitchen to see what could be done - and then brought back a full Vermonter! Apparently, they hadn't run out after all. Very strange, very disappointing. The full salad wasn't anything to write home about, but was certainly better than a plate of lettuce.

We won't go back, which is a shame given that our friends are big fans.
