“Enjoyable B&B in Woodstock”
Reviewed 22 October 2012

We really enjoyed our one-night stay in the Deer Brook Inn. Our two hosts were helpful, we had a great breakfast, and the rooms were fantastic! Definitely a nice charm to the place. The B&B is on a main road, so it can be a little noisy, but this turned out to not be much of a problem in the end. Well recommended.

A party of three recently retireds touring New England in the Fall, we really enjoyed our stay at Deer Brook. The décor throughout the house is amazing: rooms are tastefully and lovingly furnished and spotlessly clean. The main lounge is a lovely place to relax, with a TV if that is your thing, although we didn’t go to the States to sit in front of a TV screen… George and David, who own Deer Brook, are fantastic hosts. We stayed just one night, but they went out of their way to fit us in, make us feel welcome and to provide us, both in terms of food and conversation, with an unforgettable breakfast experience - we regretted not having more time to hear their stories, recounted with wit and charm. Beds are very comfortable, rooms are spacious, you can park on the premises and Woodstock, with its beautiful village centre, is a short drive away. It’s a classy and welcoming place, just like this B&B.

My husband and I stayed here for one night at the end of September. We found it to be a delightful place, with two charming hosts who cooked us a delicious breakfast the next morning. Would highly recommend.

We stayed for two nights in this delightful b&b, on the 3rd and 4th October in room 5, the Schubert Suite This historic house, which was built in 1820, is about 5 miles from Woodstock on route 4 which is moderately busy. I learnt from George that all the inns round Woodstock are on main roads anyway.

We very much enjoyed sitting and chatting to the other guests at the breakfast table. The breakfasts were wonderful, particularly the baked apple and cinammon pancakes with maple syrup. George and David were delightful hosts and gave us helpful tips. The guided tour of the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller Mansion is very good and the Quechee Gorge is well worth seeing.

I really loved our stay in Woodstock, mostly because of Deer Brook Inn. We have slept here just one night, but the kindness of the owner and the cuteness of the place conquered us.
The breakfast was really excellent! Thanks to George and David!

This was our second stay with George and David at the Deer Brook Inn, and it is one of the best B and B's we have ever stayed in. Their welcome and hospitality is both warm and professional. Our room was comfortable, with wide plank floors and old beams, charming, but updated and cozy. Breakfast can suffice for the day, enough to get you through till dinner. We started with a cup of hot coffee, juice and a warm poached pear. Then the homemade coffee cake was served, followed by a puffy egg, bread and cheese dish. Yummy! We had a choice of seating, and met a family from California and had a delightful time talking and sharing with them. It felt like family....the good parts only! When we return to Vermont , we would go out of our way to spend time here withe George and David!

This past August (2012) my husband, adult daughter and I had the pleasure of staying for several nights at the Deer Brook Inn right outside of Woodstock, VT. The fact that it is located about 5 minutes from the center of town is a plus, in my opinion. Close enough to town and just far enough away to avoid the 'busy" traffic times. The Inn itself is immaculate...the room we stayed in was the 2 room suite which worked out fine since there were 3 of us and everyone had their privacy.
The common rooms of the inn were carefully decorated...it was obvious that
David and George (the owners) took great care in choosing the design and accent pieces to create a warm
ambiance. Classical music was softly heard at all times. The breakfasts were delicious- each day there was something different for the main egg course. David cooks, and George serves. They are 2 absolutely delightful people to converse with. Very interesting with a great sense of humor. We always had engaging discussions.
They were also very helpful in giving us ideas of things to see and do and were eager to assist with any questions we had. This was one of the most pleasurable and memorable B&B's we have ever stayed at.
